DARKBLUE is a program that accesses the SimplePlanes sky and modifies a few parameters according to your aircraft's altitude. As you climb, clouds disappear and the sky darkens.
GitHub Repository (same link as Source Code button)
Gets references to the currently loaded sky dome and initializes the script for the current scene. It also writes some information to the dev console for anyone looking to see what's in the game's sky scripts.
Must be run prior to any altitude simulation command.
Must be run after entering a suitable scene, or restarting the level.
Can be run in the sandbox or main menu.
Should be run after the weather is chosen. This is because it stores the amount of cloud cover at the time it is run.
Toggles the automatic simulation mode.
When in the sandbox, uses the camera's altitude.
When in the main menu, simulates climbing from sea level at a vertical speed of 500 m/s.
Auto mode is automatically disabled when entering the designer, or if the current referenced sky dome is otherwise unloaded.
DarkBlueSetAltitude (float altitude)
Manually sets a fixed altitude to simulate.
Manual entries are overridden by auto mode, so disable it before using this command.
altitude Altitude in meters.
- The Source Code download option is a link to the repository containing the assets. The control script can be viewed from there. You can learn reflection too!
- The sky darkening and cloud cover equations are arbitrary and may not reflect real life.
- Works best with day/night and any weather that isn't overcast or foggy. Color and light effects aren't simulated with my current model.
- Please tell me if it doesn't look right, I only have Ace Combat 7 to go off of lmao
