Low Water Quality

10.8k MrTyTheGreat  5.3 years ago

I have a really bad computer, so any plane over ~170 parts runs at around 20 fps on my computer, unless I set every quality setting to low. Generally this is no problem, but with the water quality set to low, I have a hard time seeing some of my planes, because the water is so dang dark. Is there a way, via modding, or something else, to edit the water texture and/or make it brighter?

I do too. Smaller screen, and mobile is better optimised.

If anything it's iffy. Yesterday I had to crank down the graphics to get it to run at a reasonable rate, but today most everything is set to medium, and it runs at 40.

It says that it's the first CPU I mentioned, but that may not be true, as it also says that I have 8gb ram and I know for a fact that it started off with two. (now 6)

Well, I don't know the exact stats. The ram and GPU i'm certain, but the CPU might be different. There is zero info on my computer anywhere, so I could be wrong. I think it actually has an Intel Core i3-370m.

Unless your using the motherboard output instead of the GPU output
    Then that might explain somthing.

How the hell are you only getting 20fps on a 170 part build
    I'm using a i2 extreme quad core 2.1GHz
    And a Nividia Fx 3400 258mb
And 4 gb of ram DDR2
and I get 45 fps with a lot of settings on medium with almost 400prts

..........I Am Astonished how you have a computer with way newer and better parts yet have like no fps

    Intel Core i7-2630QM. 2.00GHz
    6GB ram
    Nvidia 610m (2gb vram)

I think, take those with a grain of salt.

You'd be surprised. I disabled my fps counter, but I can feel at least 10 frames increase. I don't think it likes the reflections, or the transparency. I don't think my computer likes anything other than Half-Life.

Laptop. And yes, it is pretty crappy. It actually runs SP fine until you reach around 170 parts.
It's got a nvidia 610m, and either 2 or 6 gb of ram, depending on if I installed the ram stick properly.

@goboygo1 @MrTyTheGreat actually changing water textures has been a mistery in the modding industry

The main FPS destroyers are the physics settings and the shadows, so turning the water up souldn’t do much.

I have. Physics is on low, the only thing other than water that isn't in low is aircraft reflections, and that drives me crazy if it's off.

have you tried using medium-high water with everything else on low? i have found that physics is the big lag maker. (and yes it would be pretty easy to change the water texture.)
