Since we will hopefully be getting 1.8 in late January or February I’m curious as to what they will add. Helicopter parts, more weapons, new islands, who knows. Maybe we might even get rocket engines

Where did you here that? They'll launch 1.8 in July at the earliest
Those dank SR2 explosion style
-New rim tires for wheels for better vehicles
-point defense laser system for destroying missles
-auto aim turrets
How would those two work?
The auto turret would use the laser designator to paint the targets then the player would select the target and the auto aim turret will try to shoot down the aircraft/ships/vehicles
Alternatively the the auto aim turrets can be use to shoot down missiles
The purpose of PDL is to defend the aircraft against missiles with or other aircrafts
-More action groups not just 8 would help in mechs or walkers
-Tank treads for snowstone and maywar
-weapons bay
-Paint tool
Wish they add that on 1.8
Or all of these are very hard to code?
