Okay-- what have I been missing..?

7,303 OtterOfToast  6.5 years ago

I go for like-- two weeks to make an afterburner and all I read is memes, TSAD and TVAC, and a lot of ill-conceived arguments involving mods...
So uhhh... What's up with that?

@MechWARRIOR57 Aye, that's what I've been told. :P Just another day in paradise, as I figured.

@CoolPeach In engineering, there's a formula for everything! Let's find it, shall we? ;D

No problem, I'd be more than happy to share my findings with other people. On the matter of structural panels, they can be great for learning the ropes, but what will really achieve a slick look is by using circular fuselages. It's much more advanced (and more finicky) and you'll need access to a nudge tool of sorts, but as ED said, done correctly it'll look seamless. I'm sure there's a formula out there somewhere that dicatates how this should be done, but I don't know it yet. @OtterOfToast

@CoolPeach That'd be excellent! I use mostly structural panels, as you can see, but maybe we can find something more flush. I don't look at a lot of reference, 'cause sometimes I like to fly by the seat of my pants, but if you've got anything you've learned and show it to me, I'll return the favor :3

I think that once we all learn to master the art of hollow fuselages, we can start to develop builds further and really take off in terms of aircraft form. For now though, I'll keep experimenting with the way it works, maybe we can work together to figure it out?

@CoolPeach It's alright, I understand. Like ED, here, I don't hold a grudge :3 I know what it's like to come home after a junky day, n' y'just get all grumbly. I guess I'll have to try this hollow fuselage deal-- I've tried it with my peregrine series if you've noticed. I'm quite proud of it, personally.

Thank you, I'm sure I'll find a way to adapt sooner or later.

@CoolPeach it's difficult without Fine Tuner multi-edit option. I had to overlap all pieces manually. They have to overlap smoothly. But that B-17 is still great.

Very nice build, you probably saw my attempt at it with my B-17, and the various times where I need to get a cockpit in, but I've still got a lot to learn as too the best way to about it, I'm always ending up with dark lines from the curve, especially when I start to curve/narrow the fuselage in at the front and end.

@CoolPeach here's my build that uses that technique, although somewhat undeveloped and with a lot fewer parts due to performance of the device I was using.

@CoolPeach Johndfg used it a lot. I used it once, on Android, and managed to get it very smooth even though I was getting a lot of lag. That was months ago, when I didn't have as much skill. If I practiced the technique further, I would be able to build hollow builds like TSAD. Maybe I can build like that even without practice, Doesn't look too hard with new type-in values for fuselage blocks.

I still can't believe how they've perfected the hollow fuselage technique, so well made

Ugh, my bad. Rough day. Apologies for acting so rude. EternalDarkness gave a simple run through, you could just call this another rough patch in SP history, nothing to really get to excited about.

@OtterOfToast as for a pleasant comment, I don't hold grudges. I don't even remember we had a grudge.

@OtterOfToast the thing is, they are not even using a script. They are just that good at building. I know a few guys from TSAD. BaconAircraft is one of them.

@EternalDarkness Wow-- a pleasant comment from Eternal Darkness? My life is complete XD GG, man, good to see you. And, we're not at each-other's throats, how nice ^-^
@CoolPeach I'm not looking for gossip. I'm looking for what happened. Okay, so Chinese users using a script to make aircraft. They're Chinese. They're supposed to be mechanically efficient... Seriously XD

@OtterOfToast let's just not talk about it too much. There was a bit of drama, and now it's dying down. TSAD are a group of Chinese builders, BaconEggs doesn't like them, and it's settled now. We've been having fun without you, and now that you're back, we'll have more fun :)

    How?
Actually, don't answer that, this is just going in circles. I feel like I haven't conveyed what I want to say correctly. What I mean to address is how we shouldn't make posts about SP drama (of any sorts) for fear of reigniting it, it's just more gossip that goes round and round and does no good. @OtterOfToast

@OtterOfToast ppl think tsad are using scripts to generate planes. Also I don't know what it means either lol, I just know they do almost perfect replicas.
