Emergency Landing #1: Engine on Fire

19.6k WaffleCakes  6.6 years ago

This is a made up story about Simple Airlines Flight 81. The aircraft is a Taipan Industries TC22-A. If this post gets more than 5 upvotes,I will make another one of these. Hope you like it!
12:49 PM: Flight 81 takes off from Wright Airport,Wright Isles, en route to Bandit Airport,Krakabloa.
1:03 PM: Flight 81 reaches it's cruise altitude of 30,000 feet.
This is where it will remain for the next 45 minutes.
1:48 PM: Flight 81 begins it's decent down to Bandit.
2:34 PM: At 4,000 feet,27 miles from the airport, suddenly flames start coming out of engine 2! (No offense to Taipan Ind.)
Flight 81's pilot:WTF is happening?
Co-pilot: it seems that engine 2 is on fire! Bird strike?
Pilot: Well, whatever's happening,we need to land this thing! Tell Bandit ATC!
Co-pilot: Hello,Bandit ATC we have an engine on fire,we request an emergency landing, and if you can, clear the area.
Bandit ATC: Okay,Simple Airlines Flight 81 we will try to clear the area,we got fire trucks at the runway, you are cleared to land.
The passengers are already aware of what is happening,as the flight attendants have asked the passengers to do the brace position.
2:41 PM: Another Simple Airlines flight,46,8 miles from flight 81,is asked to observe.
2:47 PM the plane dips below 1,500 feet, and is 15 minutes away from landing, and is 13 miles from the airport.
2:51 PM: Flight 81 turns off engine 2,as it is looking worse from before.
2:59 PM:Flight 81 is 2 miles from the airport, and the ATC gets a good look at 81. They say it looks like one of the worst things they have ever seen.
3:02 PM: Flight 81 successfully makes an emergency landing at Bandit Airport. Fire trucks put out the fire, and later investigations find out that a small crack in the engine caused a piece of the fan blade to dislodge and get sucked into the engine.
Hope you liked the story! Try to do this in Simple Planes with the new 1.7 update. It's pretty exiting! Sorry this was so long.

@WaffleCakes well it would be much better if it was a 20 minute flight at 10,000 feet and the plane is a turboprop. The scale you used is for a Yeager-Maywar flight.
