20.8k JoddyFubuki788  6.9 years ago

I just already uploaded my PA330-200 Recently and i really hoped for more people to enjoy it... But... Why... Why less downloads of it...? Just tell me why it happens, am i too lacked? Am i less powerful than platinums? How can i make it better? If other stuffs than planes could got more upvotes, why i can't..? This is weird...

If I were to give my two cents on the matter, both timing of release and looks of the plane are major factors of success. I've been blessed to get a very large number of upvotes for my ranking, but I think what really attracts people are primarily looks, details, lines, flashy liveries, colours etc, all the smaller stuff. You've also got to showcase them well, by that I mean taking a good first picture, the one that shows on the airplane screen. In some cases were you spend time on functionality (e.g. Turrets, landing gear etc), and less time on looks, sure those who are a bit more curious will appreciate that stuff, but most people won't mind whether it has that stuff or not, looks are the number one priority of most of the people here. If you're seeking more success in your planes, (which aren't bad might I add) you could look towards dressing up your planes in brighter colours (like what @Feanor said about the paint) and fancy liveries. And as always, things will mature like a nice cheddar, don't force it to happen instantly, otherwise you'd have some bad cheese on your hands.

@ProvingMars it's GMT+7 Here... So the best clue is 12:00AM Local time

@Shmexysmpilot Yes. your window sound correct. Also, I have noticed that the weekend has an initial pick- up on Thursday, for some reason, with a bigger surge on Friday.

@Shmexysmpilot I checked. I am GMT / UTC -4. I was wrong, but it was that easy for me to check.

@ProvingMars something like 11pm-2am GMT is the window I try to use

@Shmexysmpilot @JoddyFubuki788 Giving times in GMT allows for easy conversion for everyone. I think I am GMT-5, SO I would subtract 5 hours from a GMT reference.

@JoddyFubuki788 you never regret your work. What's done is done and you made a plane. You can only get better now. So start making some planes!

I'm more to Asian times at GMT+7/+8@ProvingMars but heck, usually these times will help too...

@Ephwurd Guess i have to keep optimistic at all times hmm? My dark aura could strike me at anytime... So it's kinda hard if u guys follow my trails...

@HKAerodynamics I'll try to repair it quickly but it's my own fault to launch one of this forums about how worse i am... I just wanna show my regrets for my planes... Just... I wanna ask how could i get it better...

@ProvingMars I could be wrong, but I usually like to cater towards American players (bc that's where the majority of players seem to be). So late afternoon for East coast and early afternoon for west coast. It works best in my experience

There is a lot of good advice here. I would like to expand on a point made by @Visify, below.

"Of course, it's also about time of upload..."

When a plane gets an upvote shortly after being uploaded, it goes to the top of the 'Hottest' page. The ranking on that page is based on Upvotes AND Time. So you want to upload at at time when there are a lot of people on the site. Just one upvote can put you at the top of the 'Hottest' page. Many people check that page first. So, you have to time it as best you can.
I think there are those that know what time much better than do I, so I hope they will comment on this. (GMT / UTC time references, as we all live in different time zones.)
If they don't post times, you could post a new forum question specifically for that. Doing so will help others at the same time. (They also wonder when to post.)

@Ephwurd Is completely right. Took me nine months to get near the top of all player. I haven't uploaded in a while so I lost all my power and reputation. If I do post it rarely gets anything.

It really takes a long time to have a reputation in this community. Most people here instantly upvote builds upon seeing who built it just simply because of that builder's influence and reputation. And building realistic aircraft takes a lot of time and effort, you know, and since there are lots of replica builders here in this community, you have to really stand out to be recognized. That's why I strayed from that and built futuristic stuff. I advise to take your focus away from getting points, and instead build your best planes in your own way.

I've had planes like that too that just didn't get attention. You either go full on one build for like a week and make sure it looks perfect, or build something original to get alot of upvotes. I'm sure if you added some more visual details and made the edges a little smoother you would get atleast twice the upvotes you just got. Ofcourse it's also about time of upload and a little luck.

Well @JoddyFubuki788 , I don't feel like breaking your heart by giving you an overly criticising rant about how your builds are. So I will give you 3 tips! 1. I advise spending some time on modern replicas, to get a feel for correct aircraft proportions. And research the capabilities and cosmetics of your replicas carefully, then check and refine your work. 2. Trial and error buddy, I had played the game for 8 months before entering the community and releasing my work. Constantly testing and creating new and interesting ways to build my planes, once you get the hang of making aircraft with high performance instead of "good looking" planes, you can begin to incorporate new designs on to a more solid foundation of well honed experience. 3. Attitude. No one became a hit overnight. Never be disappointed when your build doesn't attract the amount of attention you want. I have never had a build that had more than 20 upvotes. Ever. Respect your failures. Without them, you can't get any better. Finally: ever since I have known you, you have a tendency to post forums explaining how Badly you are doing. That's not the kind of attitude you should have around the community when you are not ultra popular. Your builds are posted for all to share and enjoy freely, and it is up to the community whether they want to upvote your creations or not. If you constantly complain about failing, you will earn the hard truth you are asking everyone for.

One quick thing you can do to make it look better is maxing out the graphics quality. I know it'll tank the framerate but you only need it to take the pictures. It'll make the plane look better without having to do much

@JoddyFubuki788 no problem. I know that good builds are hard to build on a phone. I used to be an Android user. I had 3 frames per second on some builds, and my phone would get so hot I can't hold it.
