so if you don't know, deasel submarines work by using a deasel engine to power electric batteries that then can be used to power an electric motor. The sub needs air to recharge the batteries. The sub are silent, deadly, and have to service to get air into a tube called a snort that channels said air to the engine. I think I have a solution to the needing air. What is in addition to the engine, you have turbines on the side that can be extended out of the hull like a snort would, and they use ocean currents to charge the batteries. They would work in tandem with the engines, as the engines would run when there is minimal or no current.
That has been brought up. @Noahater435
Tomprove that I am relevant in the world and that I have a place in it. @FlyingThings
@FilenotFound meant for what exactly, or is that private?
This is meant to be irl @FlyingThings
@FilenotFound is this just an idea or are you trying to do something similar in real-life?
@FilenotFound you could put a swimmer on top of the snork and replace it with a flexible tube that can be rolled in and out. So you would not need to be on periscope depth with that.
The snort is a good, but it s not a solution. You have to be within parascope depth to use said snort, and that is almost as bad as surfacing. I am trying to find a method that does not render the diesel engine useless, but rather allows you to stay under longer. @FlyingThings
great I make the same joke that @Mox made and I get in trouble yet mox doesn't, that's fair
What is a deasel. I only know of diesel
Isnt the snort the best solution for that problem?
Its simple, easy to make and efficient.
@MechWARRIOR57 @Tully2001 I'll get back when I have formal desighnes.
It would take more energy than it produces. @Tully2001
Nuclear subs are really loud. This makes them somewhat impractical. @MechWARRIOR57
hmm, this is smart, I like it although impractical bc most subs nowadays are nuclear (I think)
Well, if you can do that, that would be amazing. I'm just gonna go and do my hydro-kinetic-deasel submarine. @Tully2001
The sub would have to surface, but it could do it less.
