In fact, I think mobile mod support may have been removed because of the app store terms since then.
if your on mobile:
1download ES file explorer
2go to downloads and select the mod file
3 go to andriod/data/simpleplanes/mods
4 paste mod file
5 open simpleplanes and enable the mod
