Distinguishing Between Vanilla and Modded Creations

813 Dragon77  7.9 years ago

When browsing through all the uploaded craft, I cannot help but notice that many of them involved modding (some of them even get featured!), the thing is, there is no way to distinguish between original vanilla builds and modded builds unless you specifically check for details not possible in vanilla. It is rather important to know whether a craft was built in vanilla or assisted by mods. Don't you think it would only be fair towards vanilla players (especially those on the restrictive iPhones) if modded designs are tagged as such? A simple "modded" tag will suffice, that way a person can actually know that all that little fine details are there thanks to mods when browsing through creations.

Basic honesty reaps much greater rewards in the end than mere online upvotes. How do you feel about this matter?

Thanks!

    Well there's 3 types then...
    Vanilla: All stock parts
XML Edited/Vanilla: All stock parts with changed parameters
.spmod: Adds parts or mods to the game

the XML tag has already served that purpose for as long as modded designs have been around, and actual legitimate mods are displayed on the aircraft page under the aircraft specs. I don't think anything else is necessary for distinguishing designs as modded vs unmodded.

That would be nice, so new people could see that it wasn't a vanilla part doing certain things, but it's not actually that unfair to iOS users. Most of my planes would be well into the modded side even though I can't actually do any of it myself

As a PC user who makes highly detailed airliners, and uses XML probably more than other people (resizing, no colliders block sizing etc.)

If a player uses a mod for one of their builds it says what mod along with the specs of the plane. There is an XML Modded tag, and planes with get just as many upvotes (if not more) as they would with that tag

Ahaha ya.... Love the game, not my iphone though. And while it largely is a rather small issue to me i still think being able to tell would make me feel a little less like a crap builder (joking although i am pretty crap)

Yay! Go vanilla! I would mod though if I had a computer.

@Gestour Or a "Vanilla" tag, yeah. Just some form of distinguishing mark.

    Is there such a tag?

I personally think it's fair as [XML] modding isn't a one-click thing, it actually involves skill and time. Also iOS users can use XML modded parts using subassemblies.

And there is a XML Modded tag.

I think modding is pretty much standard anymore. Maybe there should be a Tag for unmodded, like a "Made On IOS" tag
