Best advice I would give you is to ask for help. If you don't grasp a concept you need to stick your hand up and say Mrs. Math I can not understand this.
What grade are you in? I usually get grounded for playing the iPad to late. I'm in 8th grade and I maintain a 3.7 GPA

I'm not doing the best in school... I have like three C+s, 2 Bs and two A+s lol.
Depending on where you are now and what your plans are, grades are important. Just know this (a jsaret original quote): "good grades confirm you know what is being asked. bad grades either mean you don't know what's being asked - or you don't know what answer they're looking for." Later on in academia, the difference becomes clear. Don't let the learning be about the grades. Just remember that it's hard to move on without them!
Tell your mom thanks, grades are important. Be sure you understand the material being taught, don't just memorize to pass. Have fun! (Well, as much fun as school can be)
