how do i get helicopter engines to turn off

58.4k Boeing727200F  18 hours ago

yeah a really random flaw with helicopter engines for some reason (even when using an activation group) the blades will keep spinning. this has lead to some minor cases with a prototype helicopter unintentionally shredding other players planes (in SP2's second demo) and the heli (in both SP2 and SP1) shaking BAD.
how do i do this minor thing?
i really want the engines to be able to be fully shut down with the next shitbox attack helicopter i make.

@Boeing727200F From my experience with with the helicopters here in SP1 is if you put VTOL all the way down or the throttle to break position the rotor does stop but it takes a ridiculously long time in doing so

@AndrewGarrison, interested in adding rotor brakes to heli rotors in SP2?
it will definitely make things better when attempting to enter a hanger and just existing in a heli in general

@RSH10Thunderbeam that should be in SP2

It's probably off, it's just winding down ridiculously slowly

real life helicopters have a rotor brake that slow the rotor to a full stop within a minute or so, but this mechanic doesn't seem to be implemented in SP1 nor SP2.

    Hm.
I remember SP2 helicopters massively trimming the propeller downwards. Of course, that leads to some… interesting effects while in the air.
