Did you read the title? Please say yes.
Anyways! Assuming you read the title you'll understand what I’m talking about. I first heard of SimplePlanes a while back (probably early 2016 or late 2017) from a friend who had it on his kindle. I bought the game for $1.50 (yep, a buck and 50 cents... those were the days, eh?) on my kindle. Shortly after my kindle went kapoot! (and frankly I don’t blame it, a device built for shopping and reading electronic books doesn't handle games like Minecraft, Plants vs Zombies, and SimplePlanes very well). But fear not! I was not deprived of screen time, for my father got me an iPad. And let me tell you, it was like heaven playing on that iPad after having my creativity confined by a crappy kindle (I may or may not be slightly proud of that particular use of alliteration). In May of 2023 I got SimplePlanes on my iPhone and soon after I got it on my Mac (which is what I am currently using). And that's about it!
@TheLoadingGorilla Small differences.
@Boeing727200F just like me fr
Well sort of but close enough
I actually remember when the cannon update was released. I was overjoyed at having another overpowered weapon to terrorize the convoy with lol
@Boeing727200F Nice.
@Graingy Technically I'd implode.
dont remember how i originally got it but back in late 2021 i used some simpleplanes on my mac (i still have it and have archived all surviving builds from it) and one day just stopped using it.
then in late 2023 i saw a friend playing it and after asking got it for mobile use. dont remember when i made my account though but it must have been around the same time. then in mid 2024 i got it on my laptop and thats it.
@TheLoadingGorilla You would simply explode.
@Graingy nope
@TheLoadingGorilla You cannot handle my unfiltered poetic energy.
@TheLoadingGorilla My kindle can continue to be tanky!
@ComradeBazookaBall Oh, that’s good
@ComradeBazookaBall Oh, that’s not good…
@TheLoadingGorilla At the time of making this comment, I think I permanently damaged the charge port, or at least got a moisture warning appearing constantly.
Edit: I think the problem was my charger, it was fixed after changing chargers
@Graingy oh man that first one is old… 2019 doesn’t sound too old but technology rarely ages well. In the future however I’d prefer if you didn’t use language like that in my posts.
@TheLoadingGorilla Yes.
Both had/have serious issues which make them slow as balls too. Probably something in the hard drive fucking it all up.
Older one I can’t remember when it was from (before 2010 I believe), current one is 2019. Old. Very old.
@Graingy interesting, were the Macs just old or just not for gaming?
@TheLoadingGorilla It’s by far the most powerful.
The mobile device hasn’t turned on in years, and the Mac is just terrible. Two, actually, but whatever problem the first had was clearly passed onto the second.
@Graingy dang it... the amount of times I've seen people say that to each other is innumerable, but do I take it in? Do I learn from others' mistakes? No! sigh...
Anyways! Interesting... I assume gaming laptop is your preferred/favorite device?
@TheLoadingGorilla Only three of those tags will work. The rest will be duds.
The device varied. Macs, mobile, now gaming laptop.
@ComradeBazookaBall Oh wow! That’s a strong kindle!
@MarkTheDesignGuy lol I've never been good at building anything useful, I just enjoy all the stupid stuff I can make or modify from the website.
@Graingy I’m curious, what did you use to play SimplePlanes, as in, what device?
@Hooha12 Dang
@BYardley I do vaguely remember a good amount of SimplePlanes crash recreations popping up in my feed... cars are fun though lol.
@ollielebanania Indeed.
@TheRLAF Nice.
I randomly found it in March 2024 bc I wanted to fly some obscure planes
Made an accoint on here on october of same year
The rest is history
Kinda made a video about it
Just found a video of someone playing it in mid 2023 remember? when air-accidents-recreation- videos were trending? Anyway I just found a video and said "that's cool let's check it out" and here I am.
it's funny that I found SP through a video highlighting only the aircrafts part of game yet I immediately started building cars the same week I knew about it XD
I found out about simpleplanes while scrolling through app store about 2017-2018, and with my love of planes, I bought it. I have played it rarely up until recently since I created my account, I was really horrid back then and would get frustrated and end up playing war thunder and forgetting about simpleplanes for a while. I created my account recently as my PS4 deep fried itself and I had nothing else to do.
You learned recently, but for others:
I happened upon a SimplePlanes Let’s Play by SquiddyPlays (a YouTuber I didn’t really watch) in 2016. I never got around to buying it myself, though. Not entirely sure why, I just didn’t. It was actually as a Christmas present when I finally got the game. That was nice of that person.
I’ve bought the game twice more since.
It is soon to be nine years I’ve been playing this game.
It was 2018, and I was a massive KSP fan. But during that period I started getting into WW2 vehicles because I started playing War Thunder. Then, I stubled into a video from Camodo Gaming on Simpleplanes and seeing how there were actual weapons in the games I decided to buy it to build my own WW2 inspired planes. Then I figured out I couldn't for the life of me create a working craft.... So it wasn't until 2020 that I started getting into the game, learning the basics and opening a profile here in the summer of that same year.
