Seeking help with SimplePlanes Flight Sim Gear (Looking for the API, i wanna build my own)

I am not sure if SimplePlanes can communicate back, in the sense of being able to read if a users input value is this-or-that. I have been wanting to design my own little flight sim with a microcontroller, & the problem that I have found is that I do not know if I will have to jankily code PWM for the joystick & bind pitch/roll to WASD as well as F30, F31 etc. or some other key i do not use. Also, I would love to be able to use momentary switches, because it would be annoying to have to reset the gear every time you plug it in & assumes that the user has landing gear up, ag1-8 unactivated.

Is there a way to read this? And, in SimplePlanes 2, will it remain the same?

@32 Ok, thankyou! I tried plugging in my wired xbox remote only to find the usb mini broke in it, so for now, i'm going to look into xinput :) At this point, it might even be worth to make a mod/library that makes variables for what i need, to create & communicate them

can't wait to reach silver with only posts...

The good news is that SP and SP2 both support controllers so if you can figure out how to use xinput you’re golden. You might have to mess with your keybinds in the game but you can set it up so your buttons and joysticks and stuff do exactly what you want in a relatively non-janky way. If there’s anything that doesn’t work for you could always just send keyboard inputs like 1-8 for your activation groups for instance.

Unfortunately I doubt there’s a way for SP to talk back to your hardware so your options there might be limited unfortunately
