[TSW] Bandits from the West

Our problems have multiplied.

11:03 A.M., cloudy skies.

Yeager was chosen as the MDA's base due to its tactical advantage of being close to both combat hotspots, Wright and Snowstone. However, an issue that has been severly problematic with Yeager is the weather: it's either dreamily clear, or horrendously stormy. And this day would unfortunately be the latter.

In the late morning, only an hour before noon, several unidentified aircraft were seen circling around Yeager through the cloudy weather. Concerns were raised high, seeing as all MDA aircraft were to be grounded unless emergency due to the bad weather incoming. Ground units, however, readied their cannons on the bogeys.

The unidentified aircraft disappeared North of Yeager, behind a large hill. But minutes later, they would come back around and reveal themselves: 12 Red Dragon A's.

A dramatic entrance if I've ever seen one; a Red Dragon performs a rolling maneuver while dive bombing onto Yeager.

A Red Dragon banks away from Yeager after a successful strafing run.

Another Red Dragon flies over the runway after dropping one of its 500 pound bombs on a Yeager hangar.

As if the Red Dash-Strikes weren't bad enough, now the SCOURGE has cooked up a new attacker that's even worse. The Red Dragons are big, slow, and not very maneuverable, but their armor is the highest out of any Scourge Jet we've seen so far, and their armament is absolutely monstrous, with even some formidable fighters falling victim to Dragons, and ground targets being nearly helpless against the large beasts.

To make matters worse, this attack was clearly thought through: the colossal onslaught wiped out almost all MDA ground forces that were attempting to fight back, meanwhile the hangars which the aircraft would come out of were collapsed by the bombs, trapping any operational MDA fighters in the base's underground area. The Scourge Jets pretty much had an unrestricted ability to attack again and again until the base was inoperable...

...but then the PEAs came.

11:31 A.M., help arrives.

The Scourge Jets' uncontested reign wouldn't last forever. The MDA may have been almost entirely grounded thanks to a hybrid of bad weather and critical attacks, but the PEAs- particularly the Gen-4- jumped in to help. It wasn't a sweeping victory, and many PEA-Gs were lost just trying to repel the Red Dragons. But thanks to their aid, all the Red Dragons were destroyed, save for a few escapees which were still blocked from destroying Yeager.

An F-2A dives in to attack Red Dragons head-on. Luck was on this one's side, given the trio of deadly 40mm gatling guns on the Dragon's front.

Dogfighting Red Dragons isn't a huge issue, dealing with their insane missile onslaught is. This particular F-2A would survive the initial attacks, but would later ram a Red Dragon to stop it from carrying out a bombing run.

This Buccaneer attempted to fight the Dragons bomber-to-bomber, but its wings were quickly removed by the mighty 40mms of the Red Dragon.

I don't know what lunatic thought it was a good idea to bring an A-20 here, but I thank them. A single A-20G entered the battlefield, but it was arguably the most successful PEA-G here, shooting down several jets while surviving to go home. Here it is taking down a Red Dragon.

The Red Dragon explodes after being shot down- it was carrying a full bomb load, which likely would've been directed for Yeager had it not been for the A-20's interference.

Though the Dragons held their own against the PEA-Gs, it was very clear that they were outmatched. But only for a little bit. While arriving too late to save more than two Red Dragons, SCOURGE reinforcements didn't show up too late to start racking up kills less than 10 mintues after the PEA-Gs had arrived. At 11:39, the true air battle began... and we don't like where things are going.

Roughly 80 Scourge Jets were involved in the air battle. A lot out of context, but small numbers for SCOURGE hordes. But what the Scourge Jets lacked in quantity, they made up for in quality- a chilling reality for an enemy known for their massive production advantage. Along with generally more skilled aircraft, two planes believed to actually be superplanes were spotted. One was a jet-powered biplane, dubbed "Red Warpath," whilst the other was a figther which seemed to be, at least based on the jets following it, a superior-ranked Red Eliminator (not to be confused with actual Red Eliminators, which were present and had been upgraded from A to B-variant). We've christened this one "Red Terminator."

Almost no MDA aircraft managed to make it to the skies today, but a few TCAI Vantrablades, LF-5s, and FI-28s which were stationed with the PEAs managed to come to help. However, of the 8 Vantrablades that fought the horde, 7 were shot down, with the sole survivor being considerably damaged, but just barely operable.

An explosion breaks loose on one of the seven destroyed Vantrablades at the hands of the Red Warpath.

A second Vantrablade is destroyed. The Red Warpath shot down three of the seven Vantrablades lost.

An A-4E dives down to contend with a Red Rival B.

The A-4E is not fortunate.

The A-20G once again being an absolute menace. It's not able to outpace the Red Opponents, but that waist gunner apparently can!

2x kills for the Havoc.

A third, from the gunner view.

F-8Es attempted to help us out during the attack, but they were shot down... a lot...

The Crusaders took heavy losses, but remained loyal to the end, with one of their only aerial victories being a ramming blaze of glory to take down a Red Rival B.

A new Red Eliminator B flies through the smoke of a burning enemy. Note the wing armor, bigger cannons, and micro-inlets (the red stripes behind the canopy) which have been added to the Eliminator.

Said Red Eliminator banks off the downed FI-28.

The same Red Eliminator B exactly 45 seconds after shooting down that FI-28. Keep note of this F3H.

A Yak-28P fires a missile at a distant target. It misses, unfortunately.

A second shot at much closer range connects with the Red Opponent... but is it TOO close?...

Apparently not! The Firebar lives another day.

An F-1 "Phantom Zero" turns to face a Red Rival, but there's something... different about this one.

This Rival has some unique markings... a Scourge Jet ace? That's concerning... there's actually two of them, named Dapper and Tux, but Dapper is the one we see in these pictures. Tux is much easier to spot due to the black and white designs on their aircraft.

A hard pitch maneuver helps the F-1 dodge a potential attack from Dapper.

A Red Opponent attempts to attack an F-86H, but overshoots. The F-86H would then roll its wing into the Red Opponent's cockpit, tearing the Opponent's canopy out.

The Red Opponent C's frontal area is covered in flames after its canopy was torn out by the F-86H. The Opponent would crash land in the water with heavy frontal damage, and was subsequentially captured by MDA naval forces. It is, so far, the only Scourge Jet captured in the entire war.

One of the few LF-5 Aerowings involved in the battle fights for its life against a Red Terminator, the latter of whom utilizes their deadly laser. Yes, the SCOURGE has lasers now.

The LF-5 is a good plane, but the Terminator won this battle.

A different angle better showcasing the critical hit.

12:54 P.M., still cloudy, but quiet.

After a brutal air battle lasting over an hour, the Scourge Jets finally fell back. The MDA and PEA-Gs alike had a moment of relief... but only a moment. One of the PEA-G Yak-28Ps reported in a new finding: Bandit Airport had been completely overrun by Scourge Jets.

The entire area was plagued with them, and not just fighters: several Red Dash-Strikes were seen at Bandit, leading the PEAs to believe the battle was a diversion while the main force invaded Bandit. Yet this isn't even the only issue. As if Bandit being conquered by the SCOURGE wasn't bad enough, the reason we found this out is even more troubling:

One of the PEA-Gs, the F3H-2 who had proven an ace in the skies, landed at the airfield, as if turning itself in. Has one of the oldest and most formidable PEA-Gs betrayed us? Were they confused? Or is this something else entirely that we don't understand? Can the PEA-Gs be trusted?? Either way, this is not gonna be fun...

Summary

Of today's events:

-Yeager was struck by a new type of SCOURGE attackers.
-PEA-Gs arrived to reinforce the MDA, who was completely grounded thanks to the strike.
-A massive air battle ensued for over an hour.
-The SCOURGE has now taken over Bandit, and captured a considerably menacing PEA-G.
-Also those Scourge Jets attacked us pretty much right before the storm, now our base is weak so the damage can be maximized D:
-We got some new VNF-25As, but now our hangars are flattened so we have nowhere to put them

Combat Records:

Alliance Records:

PEA-G A-4E Skyhawk: 0 kills, 1 loss (gunned down by Red Rival B)

PEA-G F-11F-1 Tiger: 0 kills, 0 losses (attempted to fight, but was withdrawn after several fruitless fights which risked the Tigers' lives)

PEA-G F-2A Viper Zero: 4 kills, 2 losses (all kills and losses were against Red Dragons, one kill and one loss are due to an F-2A ramming a Red Dragon, the other loss occured when the F-2 ran out of flares during an unexpected missile barrage)

PEA-G A-10A Warthog: 1 kill, 0 losses (got a missile shot on a Red Opponent while he was distracted)

PEA-G F-1 Phantom Zero: 5 kills, 2 losses (all kills and losses were against Red Rival B's, save for a single Red Opponent shot down by the F-1s. Both losses were to the new Red Rival aces, Dapper and Tux)

PEA-G F-86H Sabrehog: 2 kills, 0 losses (only shot down one Red Opponent, the second one was "accidental" as the F-86H slammed its wing into the cockpit of the Red Opponent chasing it during an evasive maneuver)

PEA-G F3H-2 Demon: 6 kills, 1 loss (none shot down, but we consider the captured F3H a loss. 2 of 6 F3H victories were against the new Red Eliminator B's)

PEA-G A-20G Havoc: 5 kills, 0 losses (two Red Dragons and three Red Opponents, all Red Opponents were downed by the waist gunner)

PEA-G F-8E Crusader: 1 kill, 8 losses (7 shot down; one loss and the sole kill came from a ramming attack)

PEA-G Buccaneer S.2B: 0 kills, 1 loss (wings gunned off by Red Dragons)

PEA-G F-5E Tiger II: 0 kills, 0 losses (reference X-29 "Switchblade")

PEA-G X-29 "Switchblade:" 0 kills, 0 losses (bro showed up with a whole battalion of F-5Es to overwhelm the enemy... at 1:22 when the battle was long over. We love you X-29, but please work on your timing for the love of all that is good!)

TCAI Vantrablade: 4 kills, 7 losses (all victories were against Red Opponent C's)

TCAI Broadsword: 0 kills, 4 losses (a group of 6 attempted to bomb Bandit after learning about the SCOURGE's takeover. The strike was a total failure, the only survivors returned to Yeager with full bomb bays)

FI-28 Flamethrower: 0 kills, 1 loss (a squad of four came from the PEA-Gs' base, but the remaining three retreated after the squad leader was obliterated by a Red Eliminator B)

LF-5 Aerowing: 5 kills, 2 losses (both downed by the new Red Terminator A, but the second was assisted by a Red Eliminator B)

M49A3-A Shock (tank): 0.5 kills, 8 losses (all 8 were destroyed by Red Dragons, one assist kill was scored as a damaged Shock used its top guns to clip the left wing of a Red Dragon, weakening it for an F-2A to finish it off completely)

ARV-22-A1 Grenadier (tank): 0 kills, 22 losses (all losses were due to Red Dragons)

BTA-60 Enargite VII (tank): 0 kills, 0 losses (these guys really just said "naw I'm out" and let the chaos ensue. Can't blame them though, great MBTs for ground combat, but not my first choice for anti-air)

AA Weapons: 2 assists, 46 losses (all losses were due to Red Dragons, two assists against the Red Dragons, as one AA cannon took out an engine and another took out some control surfaces (flaps mainly))

Scourge Jet Records:

Red Dragon A: 4 kills, 11 losses (10 destroyed in the fray, 1 written off after a crash landing, most kills were scored by missiles, but one was scored by cannon shots)

Red Opponent C: 9 kills, 15 losses (thirteen shot down, one "loss" was the Red Opponent which had its canopy cut off and water landed before being captured, another crashed into the volcano after blindly following a PEA-G in a dogfight)

Red Opponent D: 11 kills, 4 losses

Red Opponent E: 0 kills, 0 losses (none were involved in combat, but six were seen idling at Bandit following the battle)

Red Eliminator B: 6 kills, 2 losses (both losses were to the F3H-2, note there are multiple F3Hs, but only one was on this mission, of whom was considered to be the most skilled of the F-3s)

Red Dash-Strike B: 0 kills, 0 losses (none were involved in combat, quietly slipping into Bandit during the aerial skirmish)

Red Rival B: 13 kills, 1 loss (most aerial victories- a total of 9- were scored by the new Rival aces, Dapper and Tux. The only loss was a Red Rival which was rammed by an F-8E)

Red Terminator A: 5 kills, 0 losses (the Terminator can be considered an ace-in-a-day, seeing as only one was on the mission racking up victories)

You missed a couple losses, especially 2 more eliminators by the I-100 being an absolute reckless idiot and dogfighting two Eliminators

    This is truly unfortunate news.

The attack on Yeager Airport undoubtedly served to divert the enemy's attention, allowing us to further develop our technology... But why am I doing this?

Six months ago, during M-War II, I implemented the same strategy of counterattacking after the enemy's initial move. Yet, after enduring immense suffering on the front lines, the situation ended inconclusively. Now that we have completed the development of all weapons required for the first phase of the incident, why wait any longer?

Based on this, I propose the following plan:

We will launch tactical missiles from Wright Island to disable Bandit Airport, ensuring they lose control of the forward airfield and drawing enemy fire.
