Why do so many planes say "strato" at the start? (example: stratotanker, etc)
Also it’s very often associated with high-flying or far-reaching capabilities, and thus is commonly seen in bombers or tankers/transport aircraft
Strato is a short form of stratosphere. A layer of the atmosphere. It's just used as a nickname like viper or hornet.
