What happen to Republic of Indonesia now?

12.6k Cadvalto  11 days ago

This country is in chaos, dude. Many people are angry with the government and fed up with nonsensical policies.

The beginning of this mass protest is alleged to have stemmed from the news that the DPR (Dewan Perwakilan Rakyat/People's Representative Council) receives large salaries and allowances, with some sources even stating that the money they receive reaches at least IDR 100 million per month. Of course, this makes the people angry, because it is difficult for them to find work, but they get a large salary with minimal performance.

Demonstrations are happening everywhere, and as of August 30, 2025, there are at least 16 demonstrations in several cities, including Jakarta, Surabaya, Jambi, and Makassar.

New casualties have been confirmed, with 4 people among them.
3 people died as a result of the fire at the Indonesian Parliament building in Makassar and one person is suspected to have been run over by a police armored car.

And the number of injured victims has reached at least 343 people, some wounded by rubber bullets and the rest by blunt weapons, bleeding, broken bones, and other causes.

There are also rumors about the government deploying the military with live firearms, namely long-barreled rifles with lead bullets. This rumor is believed to be related to reports of demonstrators seizing long-barreled rifles from a police station, where it was said that they managed to take Steyr AUG rifles, SS1 Pindad rifles, and several rounds of tear gas ammunition. However, there has been no official confirmation of this news, and it remains unclear among reporters covering the demonstrations.

In addition, there are other circulating issues such as the deployment of sniper units at certain points, reports of live ammunition being fired, and claims of fatalities caused by rubber bullets.

If this issue turns out to be true, then it will most likely lead to a civil war.

In several communities, I also found at least a few groups of people who are attempting to change Indonesia’s ideology into Communism, namely RRI (Republik Rakyat Indonesia / PRI = People’s Republic of Indonesia). This is based on conspiracy theories surrounding the G30S/PKI tragedy, in which it is suspected that the PKI at the time was merely made a scapegoat. There are many irregularities within the event, including claims that G30S/PKI was not actually carried out as an attempt by the PKI to overthrow Indonesia, but rather that Suharto used it as a way to overthrow Sukarno.

This idea is further reinforced by things such as the routine broadcasting of the G30S/PKI film every September 30th, which is believed to have been a form of brainwashing propaganda designed to foster hatred toward the PKI (Partai Komunis Indonesia) so that other corruption and wrongdoings could be covered up and shifted onto the PKI’s “sins” alone.

Some people also support this statement and argue that it would be better for Indonesia to become a one-party Communist state, as they believe such a system is more fitting than the ongoing conflicts and disputes caused by multiparty rivalry.

@YarisHatchback it seems like that here in the USA, but really only in the television. The whole "oh my god this president/party is going to ruin my life" doesn’t actually happen to regular people. While prices and other things may go up or down, the average person is pretty unaffected. I do not side with either political party and I do not believe there should be the two party system. It is a trap that both sides have set up

It’s so crazy that there are so many things like this going on in the world and the mainstream media focuses on things like trumps hand, CEO’s getting fired, and other “important” things. I’m not saying that the mentioned topics aren’t important, but it seems like we have our priorities very lopsided.

I’ve literally never heard of this “conflict” until now.

    Stay safe, stranger.

and they say the US is bad

On a serious note, it’s quite unfortunate, but I suppose it was bound to happen when you’ve had decades of unhappiness (afaik) and a corrupt government, I hope you can find a peaceful solution to this problem

@Fikri27 Even though the information is labeled as a "Leak," in reality, it might just be irresponsible people spreading false information to increase the intensity of the chaos. Or, in other words, "Divide and conquer." It's better to stick to what's certain and be careful with information like this because it could just be false information to incite further unrest.

Meanwhile here in Philippines, the Filipinos are constantly cyber bullying the daughters of these corrupt government officials. Namely from DPWH contractors, politicians just to name a few. And it's just the tip of the iceberg.
We're talking about BILLIONS of money supposedly for flood control projects, and not a single one came into fruition. What happened to the money? Lmao, these mfs bought high class cars, bougie items, luxury thingies. Even got the nerve to flaunt it online, causing mass hatred

@hpgbproductions From the beginning, it's already been chaos from within, but the riot is just happening now. You could say this is the peak.

@Monarchii Fr, initially I also disagreed with this and felt like why attack the police when the main enemy is the government itself.

Honestly, Buzzers are not only experts in social media but also in this demonstration. Meaning they incite people to destroy some facilities that are even used by their own people.

honestly, the worst enemies are not ones from outside, but from your own country tbh, aghh.. it doesn't help that our citizens are easily led to doing things like this, like, are the Police not citizens also? they're doing their jobs, paying their taxes, and doing other citizens stuff, yet they're the ones getting pummeled, does the police not have casualties? FXCKIN IMPOSSIBLE, it's just the masses pay more attention to the other things, while the Police is ignored.
    .
and in the end, after all this riot and demonstrations, what is going to happen? taxes get raised to "fix" the infrastructure and then ending up in lining the pockets of corrupt officials, back to square one.
