This here account has 236 following accounts, but is also over 7 years old. Very likely most of those are long dead.
Not making some grand point here, just musing.

@THEOKPILOT Seems likely.
I'd guess on the higher end of that, if not higher, as getting followers is not usually linear.
Probably like around 15-30%, I have a lot less followers and my account is pretty new.
@Kikikokikomarumaru15000 Neither do I, which is where the problem lies.
No. I don't keep a list of users who follow me
@BOSKnight unggg
@Graingy ok. How have you been?
@BOSKnight Nope, they were formed completely separately in the year before Graingy and have never had any relation. While the origins of Graingy’s name are unknown, it has been confirmed that it is completely unrelated to Grainger’s. Daren Sesame had no knowledge of Grainger at this point in time.
Are you, by any chance related to Grainger?
I had a period where I “fell off” for more than a year(to be exact, it was almost a year and a half without any major builds). During that time, most of the subscribers really died out like mammoths. So of the active ones, either some very old ones, which by some miracle are still more or less alive, or fresh ones, which appeared recently. So yes, the estimate is about 5-10%
@DeeganWithABazooka pretty sure it's because when you hide the "followings" tab you won't get notifs from people following you
I don't even know who my followers are since I don't get notifs about new followers anymore.
@Boeing727200F of the ones I follow I’d imagine it’s like <5%
I think I have <8-10% active.
last time i checked alot of the people i followed are either rarely active due to touching grass or were inactive altogether, either moved on or they also touched grass
Less then 5%
said 40% like a total dumbass thinking it was people you followed, not people who follow you.
yeah, probably <10% are still active for me too
