Overview
It's very notable that I have had several different missile names over time, and I want to conglommerize and give what sets them apart and when they were introduced, so that I can keep continuity for my lore
AAMs
XAIM-3A - 1962
First Exeronian AAM, first seen on XF-25 (my first post before I created Exeron). XML Modded interceptor with bogus stats for gameplay but in universe it would've been a mid-range SARH missile with only around a 95s of guidance time
XAIM-3B - 1971
An upgrade to the XAIM-3B, with the same bogus stats but in universe the guidance system was upgraded to accommodate longer ranges
XR-63A - 1973
Exeron's first domestic IR AAM, similar to the Russian R-60M but with a body and rocket similar to the AIM-9B. First equipped to the JS-29A Templar
Python-5C - 1974
Exeron's first domestic ARH AAM, similar in nature to the AIM-54 and first seen on the Eff Foiteen failed project. This aircraft also carried the Python-3C AAM, but it was ultimately outclassed by the XAIM-3B[U]
XAIM-3B[U] - 1977
Not within the missile name, but between the last Keto MiG-23 and the JS-40A I upgraded the XAIM-3B's FT stats, just making it easier to use
XPARS-1M - 1984
The first true ARH missile in Exeron, only ever equipped to the JS-45 Prototypes. It was very similar in properties to the XAIM-3B
PARS-1M -1989
The production variant, seen on almost every following Exeronian aircraft.
Then there is a long gap here until the 2000s
It's worth noting, Exeron operated both Soviet and American missiles. Exeron turned to Russia for SARH missiles, but preferred American IR AAMs until the R-60M was made
PARS-1M[U] - 2000
Like the XAIM-3B[U], it doesn't appear in naming but rather on site descriptions. All it is is a minor upgrade to the missiles G and Speed capabilities
XR-76A - 2003
The first prototype to the R-76M, seen on the JAS-32 Imperator. The missile performed very similarly to the R-73, except in terms of maneouverability, but had increased range. It also included a decent IRCCM system (that doesn't work ingame sadly)
R-76M - 2007
The modernized production variant of it with a smokeless motor, seen on the JS-47A Dagger.
MARS-5D - 2013
A bulkier opponent to the PARS system, with a smokeless motor and stronger ARH capabilities. The missile has a somewhat increased range due to the size of the body allowing more fuel and for a stronger motor
AAM-7IR - 1981
A Short Range IR Guided missile developed for use on the JS-16A
Helicopter Launched AAMs
SPIRE-3IR - 1984
An earlier variant to the HSDW-2, first seen on the HCH-19
HSDW-2IR - 1990
The "Heli Self Defense Weapon", it is a fat IR AAM with early IRCCM, designed for stationary launches. First seen on the MAH-11 Mosquito
Surface to Air Variants:
SL-XAIM-3B - 1980
The first SAM variant of a missile, features on most of Exeron's SPAA until the HQ-51C
SL-PARS-1M - 1998
An upgrade to the PARS-1M that allowed for stationary launches, used originally in fixed SAM systems
Might edit this with SSMs, AGMs, and ASMs later, dunno
@SuperSuperTheSylph see, theres Heat Seeking, GPS Guided, Active/Semi Active Radar Homing, there's SACLOS and MCLOS respectively, and then there's My Eyes seeking missiles
@NotRob119 in literal sense, missiles are kamikaze drones
