Regarding Shipbuilding in SP

How do I build a hull properly?

Like, efficiently but without sacrificing detail.

Because honestly I use already made hulls from other ships. Don't worry I credit them.

I wanna make my own ship from scratch, including the hull itself. Besides, the superstructure, bridge and the rest of the ship parts is easy anyways.

@NavalGunnery ahh I get it now. Though that's for ww2 ships. I'm building modern ones. I suppose the principle is the same

When it comes to ship bulding, you would first need to generally familiarize yourself with the whys of ship building, finding out why are some ships slimmer, fatter, shorter, or taller than others? Why some hull shape differ from others? Why some drafts are circular, and some drafts V shaped, whats the difference with this shape of a ship's bow compared to other shape?

after learning the basics of why is where you can start utilizing methods in order to achieve those shapes, the shapes which strive to achieve a certain goal, the goals which strives to achieve what features you'd want your ship to have.

I would suggest starting on this by reading the following or other similar materials
    Ship Shapes and Anatomy

@MonsNotTheMonster shoot, I forgot you were already in the server lmao my bad
And yea, that method takes a bit of practice but if you can get it right, it's gets the best results that are currently possible to do in SP

The current most efficient and best looking method is to use sliced hollow fuselages: you slice the bottom of a circular hollow fuselage to 50%, one side of it to 50% as well, and the top to 93%. You then use this to make the flare of the bow by adding more segments: the wider you make the part, the more pronounced the flare is. It might sound a bit complex written like this, but we made a nice tutorial (among other useful tutorials about ship building) in the Port SP discord server, feel free to join, we are always happy to help a new ship builder learn (you can find an invite to it in my bio)

It’s been so long since I last tried…
There are a couple(?) techniques I’ve learned since, I think, so I should try them out.
