@32 Yeah, I quite stupidly thought the PC was for Simpleplanes alone. Simplplanes is so, well, SIMPLE, that it only needs 2gb of RAM, and 750 mb of storage, similar specs to a Windows 7 computer from over 15 years ago. Not saying it would run well, but it would work.
@32 I have a 16 GB laptop, and it runs fine. Also I have really no idea what I am talking about, I know some stuff about computers, but not like, specific version of CPU's.
@THEOKPILOT bruh
suggesting under 32 gigs in 2025 for anything that costs more than a few hundred dollars is not a good idea. An i5 is a model name they've been using for 30 years and some are god awful, suggesting one without clarifying a specific model is pointless.
@Randomplayer maybe a USB stick so you can install Windows, if you already had one that’s ok but putting windows on the stick will erase all the data on it.
@Randomplayer you probably should get 32 gigs of RAM just for future proofing and you can get a 4060 for very close to the price of the 3060 but otherwise it looks pretty good
@Randomplayer the case doesn't have USB-C, which I think you need. Also some parts are missing prices so its probably like $700 you can buy the GPU used to save some money, if you're paying MSRP for a GPU th. T old you're getting scammed. The thing about these parts lists is they tend to go out of date pretty quickly, I'd start saving, figure out an exact budget, then come back once you've saved that amount ready to buy. Also you can enable customization features and remove the watermark for about $10, just buy a key from gamers-outlet.net. I believe if its inactivated windows can also choose to randomly restart for no reason other than to convince you to activate it, so a cheap key is way better than spending like $200 on one from Microsoft.
Here's a much better list. Also get windows 11, like jamesplanes mentioned you can get it for cheap or free through only slightly sketchy methods. https://pcpartpicker.com/list/nvgtcH
I've played SP with similar specs and gosh dang did it run smooth.
Edit: you'll want a case with USB-C if you're using a VR headset, that one does not have USB-C.
What's your budget? It just so happens I've spent a bunch of time creating parts lists for people. I've even built my own PC. Things that stick out with this list is that all of your parts are quite old, on this budget there's no reason to be using DDR4 RAM and an LGA 1151 motherboard. That's not to mention the 2 really old GPUs, one of them seems like it was a misclick though.
Don't buy Windows. You should get a very slightly limited version for free (only inconvenience is a watermark in the bottom right saying to activate windows) and if that's too annoying or you want to personalise your PC a little bit more, there's loads of ways to activate it for free.
Get windows 10 or 11, steam doesn't support anything older than 10 anymore.
The graphics cards should be good enough
And it's got more ram than my gaming laptop.
Looks good enough!
@Randomplayer eh that’s ok, Mac’s are good for SP anyway.
@32 I don’t own a pc, besides my Mac but that doesn’t count
@Randomplayer what specs are you currently running on?
God damn 950 dollars is absurd. What was I thinking?

@THEOKPILOT yeah I mean for simpleplanes (literally a ten year old mobile game) it's fine but for anything else it's not worth the savings.
@32 Also yeah, 8GB of RAM isn't really an option anymore.

Windows 11, 8 - 16 GB of RAM, i5.

@32 I’ve replaced the ram (out of stock) and replaced it with 32 gigs added some thermal paste and added a cpu cooler? Anything else I should add?
@Randomplayer you probably should get 32 gigs of RAM just for future proofing and you can get a 4060 for very close to the price of the 3060 but otherwise it looks pretty good
I’ve optimized it so it should be good now
Btw thanks for your help!
@32 yeah I found some missing parts and it racked up to like 780 bucks. Not too bad that’s within my budget
@jamesPLANESii sweet

@Randomplayer nope only on your monitor
@32 would this be viable? I saw it on a subreddit and it’s pretty cheap too! 1 grand might be too much tbh
@32 anything really
@jamesPLANESii would the watermark show up in my headset?
