@TalonTheCRTguy In reference to Splatoon 3, a Nintendo 3rd person online 4v4 shooter released in late 2022 with some rather unusual mechanics (like its predecessors), a Splatfest is a 3-team 48 hour event where a player chooses a team (Ex: If you were trapped on a deserted island, would you want Gear, Grub, or Fun (cards and stuff)? Guess which won in a landslide.) The player then fights in 4v4 battles against one of the teams for the first 24 hours, then in a new-to-splatoon-3 2v4v2 mode where the 4 defend and the two 2-player-teams attack an objective to gain an advantage (Tricolour). By playing players can support their team, which is scored based on "shells" collected the week before the event by playing, total votes, victories in two 4v4 formats (the same, but somehow different? Idk something about matchmaking), and the 2v4v2, which was original meant to give a chance to recover to the runner-ups (who would be the attackers) but was changed because it wasn't considered fun to defend on. In the second splatfest they hardly appeared at all.
Players get personal awards by progressing ranks:
Fan (0-100), Fiend (100-350), Defender (350-850), and Champion (850-1849). Finally Ruler, but getting past that (+1, +2, +3, etc.) provides no greater rewards. These rewards are in the form of "Super Sea Snails", which are used to upgrade gear. The winning team gets increased the rank rewards, such as Ruler getting an extra three, from 21 to 24.
I'm stuck at less than halfway through Defender. I have never once failed to complete a Splatfest, and I don't want to fail now.
