Should I post something every day to go platinum?

3,579 Nyamomin  one month ago

To be honest, I think I can earn more points by posting multiple simple builds of around 100 parts in succession in a short period of time than by posting one build that takes months to complete.

Well, my pride means I can't do that, haha.

I'll post the build I'm working on today and then I'll start building a small vehicle to submit for the Microcar Challenge. I guess the production of the 752 GT3 will come after that...

there's enough low effort spam posts by people with the same idea, so I wouldn't. Also platinum is the worst rank color after bronze

Internet points and ranks do not make sense, unless newbies will be more loyal to you, you will be special if you get Featured, and for this you need to do something impossible within the SP, very unique and super-quality.

Mod creators and FT programmers are also highly valued.

My personal experience: Yes, but actually no. You should spend time making quality builds, whether that be simple-yet-detailed aircraft like @Monarchii's PEA series or my Red V Green aircraft, or you could spend time making very high-part/quality builds for the world to enjoy. However, posting frequently is a good idea, so posting simple or meme aircraft every now and then is quite beneficial.

on the contrary, I will argue otherwise with others; I feel like simplicity has a quality of their own, however, simplicity without aim or passion burns your motivation; share what you love in the form of simplicity

nerfaddict is right about a lot of things though, one of em is to improve constantly by seeing what you can do better

@Nyamomin my personal answer is no speaking from experience.

Yeah sure this game has a decently large community with their own borderline private site (imagine if this site had the same traffic as twitter, wouldn't be so great), and yeah it has a reward system in the form of points

but the best part of it to me is the actual construction of whatever you can think of, and seeing that thought through to its logical conclusion.
seeing your own ideas come into visual rationalization.
finding flaws in whatever build you can think up and fixing it in the way you would like to fix it.
And polishing your builds to the best of perfection that your own mind can reach.

and then being able to share your builds with similar minded people: people who actually understand what you like
not just some random people who are like "cool" and then immediately change the topic

now did I reach platinum and 29something K by posting something everyday?
    no.
instead, everything I've posted for the past 8.1 years have been from a place of genuine passion.
Now has whatever fuels that passion changed over the years, yeah it's an inevitability.
but the passion itself has never actually wavered to the point of "only points matter now".
at no point did I make my points on this site my incentive, now is it cool to watch them go up? yes, but that isn't my main concern for being here

long story short, don't pay too much attention to your points, and instead just do the things you actually like doing.
do that and you'll extend your mileage out of this game ten fold

You do not want to burn yourself out trying to post everyday
Take your time, play at your own pace and you'll get there eventually, no matter how slow the journey will be

Yes. But there are many different methods. You are a great builder. You should keep building high quality stuff.

    @TheMouse
Most people like to accumulate something things like SP points, even if they don't mean anything.

Platinum means nothing. All it means is that you have amassed a bunch of worthless internet points. But if you really want it, post funny builds. Meme builds by far get the most upvotes. (In the short term)
If you really wish to become a well known player though, post high quality stuff once per month. You will get well known, and get lots of followers, and this will let you become much better. I have seem your builds, you are a very good builder. Keep posting the high quality stuff, and it will show.
