Effort does not equal downloads

Finding the sweetspot for downloads is a tricky thing, not only having a quality build with a good thumbnail affects its popularity.

The time of uploading seems to have an effect as well.

I had poor quality or simple builds achieve 100s of downloads but some detailed builds I thought would do well get around half or less

One particular example was a build I did around 3 years ago, it looked... meh, at the time so years later with new parts and a nice t thumbnail I did a rebuild which looked "the buisness" it still did alright but got far fewer downloads, it was disheartening.

Edit [Many of us would have seen posts of "nothing" or "the cockpit" (was interesting the first time) find their way to the front page and earn hundreds of points for the user. But its not great motivation to see this when you feel this way]

Maybe I'm putting too much stock in the download counter, upvotes and so on but curious to see what other people think.

So I put it to you:
Have you had this happen?
What time works best?
How much efforts is too much?
Am I putting too much thought into this?

to me, it's a lot of things really.. for example(me), have a lot of interactions with a lot of people, that is one factor; the second one would be the thing you are making, is it a one-time thing or a niche you've chose to associate yourself with?(in my case, i do low part optimized stuff, that is also a high factor); i can go a lot more but tbh those two are my main thoughts, nevertheless, as Noname918181 said, have fun with what you're doing, pick what interests you the most(mine is of course, obscure less known ships/planes), have a blast with it! take a break once in a while if you're burdened, shelf it for a while if it feels monotone, a lot.. really.

@Fighterpilot91 yeah, it's easier said than done to be honest, but focusing on other stuff in the meantime helps me somewhat

    True
I build because i like the vehicle, the internet side of things is an extra.
But its all too easy to get caught up in it.

Doesn't really matter anyways, it's the users choice if they want to download your creation or not, regardless of "quality", it shouldn't really be focused on, instead focus on having a blast, not about random internet statistics
Besides, sometimes they can't download the plane craft in the first place due to device performance

More complex builds have problems optimizing on mobile devices, most SP players play on mobile devices <4GB RAM.
