Realistic Concept Aircraft

Northrop-McDonell Douglas F-23A Black Widow II

In the late 1980s/ early 1990s, the United States Air Force held a competition for their Advanced Tactical Fighter (ATF) program. Northrop-McDonell Douglas entered the YF-23A and Lockheed Martin entered the YF-22A. Although the YF-23 was stealthier, the latter would soon win and become the legendary F-22A Raptor. What if the YF-23 was chosen? It would likely carry less internally than the F-22; but it would have superior speed and range.

This 6th generation fighter is stealth, supersonic (it can super cruise: going mach 1 without afterburner), extreme maneuverability, and STOL (Short Takeoff and Landing). The F-X is capable of carrying multirole cruise missiles and other advanced weapons.
