The SpaceX Starship has finally taken off!

47.8k RepublicOfCursedPlanes  one year ago

Just now, SpaceX's famous Starship, the world's largest rocket ever placed into service, successfully made its first flight after a delay from 2 days ago.

The Starship made it into the stratosphere, but the 2 stages failed to separate and the rocket blew up. However, this flight is still a major milestone for SpaceX, as it brings Starship one step closer to reaching Mars.

You can watch the livestream of the launch here.

@goboygo1 and besides that, NASA tends to avoid failure as much as possible, while SpaceX embraces failure as a method of improvement

@Numbers2 Nasa's much older, their technology is proven and refined. SpaceX is pushing the limits, and developing new tech, they're gonna have to blow up a few more rockets to get to mars.

@DeadlyDialga Sucks to be you. I woke up (fortunately very easily) like a minute or two before I was able to get on my headphones and see them announce that countdown had resumed from 40 seconds.
And then watch it pull what they in the business call a "Stayputnik flip".

Let us remember the Soviet N1 rocket, for today it lost the only two things it had:
    1. Most powerful rocket stage ever flown.
    2. Most powerful rocket stage to blow up.
May the glorious (almost) Space-Cone live on in our hearts, because that thing looked retro as f*ck.

Woke up two hours early just to watch the launch livestream. My disappointment is immeasurable and my day is ruined.
