AI stupider? (My story)

5,447 DEADSHOT16  1.9 years ago

Was testing how smart or dumb AI. Me in stock simple P51 against a simple stock pigpen. Im flying straight keeping the same course and the AI pigpen (aggressive) is about to overshoot. It fires a missile when it is like 50 feet behind me. The missile did hit me but because the pigpen was so close, it also died just as it was going to overshoot. AI is dumb.

You gotta remember that this AI is old coding.
8 years is a long time in the gaming world.

Actually the entire AI needs a code overhaul because the Ai in sandbox mode will spawn and fly with parts of plane either non existent or 50feet above ect.

And the Dogfights are just halirious.
AI will fire a missile 10 feet Infront and I don't need to use Counter measures because of how close the missile is and not only that but AI rolls to the right and turns left visa Versa plane rolls left and turns right which is negative G's on the pilot and plane which is not ideal in a dog fight, which makes Dogfights in simpleplanes stupid.

The only two things I give credit for in dogfighting in sp is that when AI is on your 6 it follows your moves which leads into my next thing of credit it's good for formation flights with AI with out weapons.

I don't think the AI is programmed to make decisions that complex as they run on code rather than visual sense/logic, best you could do is load up the pig pen, and XML edit the missiles on it to have a minimum range where it cannot lock/fire, you can do this by selecting a missile, opening the XML editor, going to the part of the menu labeled "missle" and add a new value/thing at the bottom named "minRange" and set the value to the minimum distance in meters (i.e. 300)
