I actively snoop old dev forums and comments, and I noticed that one of them said that SP uses old Unity and that makes it hard to update.
Judging by the seeming inactivity of the devs, probably not.

SPVR for PSVR
More weapons
More default planes
More building parts or gizmos
Polished graphics
An addition to Wright or Krakabloa
A small island somewhere around the map with Andrew's face in a temple

The devs have stated before that updating SimplePlanes is extremely hard because it uses old Unity software.
Have patience. I just looked through the blog posts, and based on the date some were posted, a theoretical update for this year would be announced in the next few months (I can't say yes or no to the question, but that's just my thoughts).
Yeah let me check… when do the aliens invade? Has that happen yet?
It’s about a month after recovery efforts are completed, but before the sun implodes or something.
