Can someone please tell me why planes are so difficult to create, My best airplane I have created was the Airbus A320, and at the end, it sucked, I even tried to put my own retractable landing gear on it and they just got stuck or looked weird. I’ve watched plenty of videos and I still suck at making planes.
Maybe I’m just good at making helicopters.
@Airheaddivision True. Merging the objects together is what is hard. Like making actual windows for planes. I'll eventually become like other good people
@HorizonTech5 I’m sure you can do it, if I can do it, you can too, just takes some analyzation on actual aircraft pictures, I have to use toy models around my house.
@Airheaddivision Yeah. This is an old post. I was just explaining how things are going for me because I have been a user for 3 months. Basically, I'm new
@HorizonTech5 it’s still tricky, especially when the game itself can’t create the right shape, but this was an old post, I’ve gotten better at certain planes, so yeah, it was bit of a skill issue
@Airheaddivision You're so right. I once imagined me making aircraft that would make me a legend and here I am making idiotic aircraft that end up not flying. I literally just download aircraft and customize them.
I mean any of it just takes time, I hate building replicas personally so I just tend to freehand things until they look nice. Try to use preexisting parts for detail you can always scale them around. Like the joystick base and the big block rotator are personal favourites.
@jamesPLANESii I meant learning to build decent planes would be easier if the in-game tutorial was updated with more advanced stuff, there are quite a few things that the game doesn't teach you like FT and xml modding. Kinda weird how there are so many features that the game doesn't even mention but everyone uses them constantly here.
@Numbers2 The tutorials really seem like they are for familiarizing you with the interface in the context of building your first plane, not for teaching you how to build a plane.
Thank you and I will check out your stuff @JustWingIt
Yeah, I have to agree with you. Building stuff in this game is hard, stressful, and tedious. You get better with time though, and eventually you'll be making some awestome stuff. Good luck!
@Titaninfernal1 Start with mine :) jk
@Soardivision160th sure, no prob
For me, I take references from other's builds wherever possible. Of course I didn't do that with my two MiGs back then, but whatever.
I understand that, it took me at least a few months to even get one of my helicopters to work right. @Walvis
Thank you I will @IceCraftGaming
For me, try to dissect other planes and study how they build them. Over time you will learn some new stuff
Ironically as well the game has only got a tutorial on how to build a plane nothing like that for helicopters @Walvis
Use blueprints
Ironically, SimplePlanes isn't so simple. A lot of the best creations uploaded to this website are made by people who have a ton of experience. Many, many hours are required to get to this level of building. If you check out some profiles of platinum users you’ll often see that the older the post, the less advanced the creation is; you can see their progression.
Many things in SimplePlanes cannot just be explained in a single tutorial. In a sense, SP really is just like any other art.
@DeveloperKorzalerke Well, you can't exactly teach someone how to be mechanically minded...
@jamesPLANESii Would be a lot easier with updated tutorials.
Instead of searching how to make things in SimplePlanes, you need to look at the real thing and see how it's done, and replicate it in SimplePlanes :)
I used to think the same actually, but further on when I learned more on how those things fly, it got easier. To start up though, I recommend watching @Walvis' tutorials, it helped me ALOT.
@Titaninfernal1 It was simple 7 years ago when the game first released, a bit late to change the name now.
Because simpleplanes is misleading, its name says:
simpleplanes, however, it is not easy to make planes here, so the name of the game should be: complexplanes
That was my rant, now I'm going to upvote random constructions on the site, bye
