Moderator announcement: Purpose of moderators + Strike system

242k EternalDarkness  3.3 years ago

Lately, this community seems to have forgotten the purpose of moderators. It might be my fault, because I'm trying to be polite and to maintain a friendly connection between the community and moderators.

A moderator is a person who enforces the site rules. We do not answer to individual users. We answer to the owner of the site only. We're not obligated to tell you why your friend got banned, or what happened to this user or that. That's just our occasional good will.
Furthermore, a number of users have seen fit to badmouth moderators publicly on the site. We will not stand for that. Every such post or comment will be regarded as intentionally starting drama, and will be removed and a strike will be issued.

On a somewhat related note, it would seem that many people don't quite understand the strike system of the site.
Strike system is a system that moderators keep up by adding notes to your "Mod Notes". Whenever you break the rules, we write it down in your mod notes, and that's a strike. When you have three entries in your mod notes (each containing a date and a link to the offense), you are issued a ban. It is usually a temporary ban five to fifteen days long, though it might be permanent if the offences are more severe. If you break the rules again after the first ban or bypass a ban by using another account, you will either get a longer ban (one to three months) or a permaban, depending on the severity of your offences and on your usual behavior. Third ban is almost always permanent, and any attempt to bypass permanent ban will result in a further IP ban, stopping you from using the site entirely.
Not every offence will be a strike, of course. For small ones, we sometimes issue a warning. Decision which offence will yield a strike is entirely our own, and we will not justify it unless we feel like it.

@JacksEpicGamingYT developers are above moderators. They have higher authority.

@EternalDarkness ok, thx tho. I’m kinda new, and I am still learning the rules.

@JacksEpicGamingYT it's difficult not to know that something is rude. Usually, you would get a warning for the first minor offense, at least back when I was a moderator. For the current state of affairs, you would have to ask current moderators.

So, Imagine I accidentally do something that I don’t know it’s rude. Would I get a strike or a ban or both or none?

@CarMaker20 honestly being a moderator is fun, until it isn't

@EternalDarkness Omg it is very bad as you have to deal with anoyiong users, but why don't choose to be a moderator?

@CarMaker20 it's not worth it. You get to deal with a bunch of annoying users who hate your guts because you are enforcing the rules they have agreed to follow. I have received literal death threats when I was a moderator.

To become a moderator you must be trusted by Jundroo.

@CarMaker20 it comes with a temporary ban, duration of which depends on the severity of the offense. When this post was made, it wasn't so. A strike was a permanent note visible only to the moderators.
I am no longer a moderator though. Things might have changed these days.

A strike from moderators is basically a warning from them.

@Alanthelegendaryfighter if there are any, you should be able to see them on your home page, above your bio. The ones from old system, which you can't see, aren't relevant anymore.

@jokopuryono the account you're commenting from (I assume your child's account) has broken the rules multiple times. When a user takes parts that someone else has made, it is necessary to mention in the description of the build who made the parts.

@InfamousRedSkull you don't have any active strikes. You can see your strikes when you have them.
