Republic of Accilia: A Summary

14.0k Griffon1  3.7 years ago

The Republic of Accila is a very secretive nation in the northern hemisphere, based on a large spot in the middle of the ocean containing massive radar jamming. The airborne military branch of the Accilian military is the Accilian Air force, the primary branch of their armed forces.
The Accilian Air Force (AAF) is commanded by the Air Defense Department. It is a council, so to speak, of seven strategists who are obligated to command the numerous squadrons of the Accilian Air Force.
The air force itself is composed of 5 detachments, each containing 12 Air Wings, which are composed of four squadrons of 4. This totals to 240 total combat aircraft in the Accilian air force. However, recent entry into the Intruder War will drastically increase aircraft production, and therefore, the air force size.

The equipment of the Accilian Air Force is as follows:
Fighters:
“Standard” Fighters:
-F-44A (Interception Fighter)
-F-44B (VTOL Fighter)
-F-46A (Defence Fighter)
-F-47 (High-Speed Fighter)
Advanced Fighters:
-F/A-67 (Advanced Fighter)
-Project 8117 (Hyper-Advanced Fighter)
-Projrct 8117-02 (Hyper-Advanced Fighter)
High Speed Fighters:
-SRF-34 (High Velocity Interceptor)
Drone Fighters:
FQ-48 (In Development)
Squadron Specific Planes;
F-14Acc Model 001 (Griffon Squadron' Aircraft)
Attackers:
F-45A (Light Attacker)
Cargo/Logistics Aircraft:
-SC-32 (General Purpose Cargo Plane)
AWACS/Electronic Warfare Aircraft:
-SE-32 (Converted Cargo Plane; Same Airframe as SC-32)

The Accilian Air Force operates from four main bases:
-The New Accilia Airbase (Nation's Capital, Represented by a heavily modded Wright Airport)
-Northreach Airbase (Represented by Avalanche airport)
-Blackwind Airbase (Represented by Yeager Airport
And finally,
-Seargrit Airbase (Represented by a modded Maywar airport, provided by the XYZ Mod)

Squadrons often fly with three to four aircraft, usually led by a single plane, allowed by the military to be customized by the commanding officer as they see fit, as long as the aircraft still bears standard Accilian markings.

==AIRCRAFT==

=F-44A/B=
When the Accilian military's third generation jets were beginning to show their obsolescence, the Air Defense Department contracted Phoenix Industries Weapons Factory to conceive a radical new design to potentially change the course of aircraft design.
The result was the XF-44, which saw many teething troubles mostly regarding instability. As there was no other design like this at the time, no queues could be taken by other governments.
Nonetheless, the F-44A went into production, with considerable success. Being easily mach 2 capable, and carrying a decent payload at the same time. Since it's introduction, the F-44A saw adaptation into a carrier capable fighter, donning an arrestor hook and reinforced landing gear.
This remains the only Accilian carrier-based jet fighter to date, and, given the state of the Accilian navy, with only two medium-sized carriers, two cruisers, and a half a dozen destroyers, it was needed badly.

=F-45A=
Despite being designated as a fighter, the F-45A is an attacker operated by the Accilian navy. When the Accilian Navy unveiled their new carriers, the Navy High Command requested the Accilian Air Force to contract a company to build a naval attacker for their fleets. Only accustomed to building fighters, Cyclone Aerospace and Phoenix Industries decided to combine efforts to research this new aircraft. At first, the design process was riddled with conflicting ideas between the two companies. although eventually, a consensus was made and development continued.
Two of the three prototype aircraft crashed due to a flaw in the wing design. The way the wings were designed made the aircraft extremely hard to control in a pitch, so the pilot had to be committed to his maneuver. Unfortunately, this flaw was never really solved, and pilots were trained extra carefully in this area. considering that it was not fighting enemy aircraft, it was not as big an issue.
However, at the same time as this fighter was being developed, the SC-32 was in its stages of design, and parts shortages raged across Accilia. This made engine research and design very difficult, and the result was the initial batch of production aircraft being issued with lower quality engines.
In it’s early stages of design and testing it was known as the A-74 Vorpal, and at that stage it had extremely poor handling and weight. The plane also had no weapons or even provisions for said weapons. Now, however, the F-45 is armed with 2 Sparrows, 4 AMRAAMs, and 4 Hellfires.

=F-46A=
The F-46A is a canard-delta fighter, drawing heavy inspiration from 4.5 Generation planes like the Eurofighter Typhoon and Dassault Rafale. The aircraft was ordered after other 4.5 gen planes from other countries were brought into production. The F-46A is mostly used in defense roles, although it has been approved by the Air Defense Department for use in standard fighter and strike roles. Most often Accilian fighters are equipped with ABR-012 Air to Air/Surface adaptable radars, allowing the radar locks to achieve both AA and AG locks.
The XF-46 experienced maneuverability issues similar to the F-45, although the weight was not the problem: the lack of experience with this form of aircraft was. There were many issues with finding the optimum wing flap configurations and it was decided to just scrap those entirely and just rely on the canards for pitch control.
The powerplant comprises of a single afterburning turbofan engine, augmented by two turbojet engines for a slight thrust augmentation.
The F-46 has the standard Accilian armament of 8 AMRAAM missiles, 4 Hellfire missiles, and 2 Sparrow missiles. It might be interesting to note the lack of guns. The main reason for this is weight and maintaining agility, which is a high priority in Accilian builds. However, provisions are still made in the pods next to the cockpit.

=F/A-67=
This is the product of the Accilian Advanced Fighter Base program, Very similar to the ATF Program. The aircraft incorporates some of the aspects if it's competitor, the F-43A. However, this aircraft is entirely different. It's wing structure is quite unusual, as it begins as a trapezoidal wing, and then abruptly changes to a forward swept, anhedral profile. The FA-67B's main distinguishment from the FA-67A was the complete overhaul of the rear section, replacing the entire engine housing to accommodate the thrust vectoring paddles.
The FA-67B has an armament of 2 Vulcan Rotary Cannons, as well as 2 Sparrows, 8 AMRAAMS, and, to give it some attacker capabilities, 4 Hellfire AG missiles.

=SC-32=
The SC-32 is the main transport aircraft of the Accilian military, and developed by Cyclone Aerospace. The aircraft was originally intended to be a supersonic aircraft (hence it's designation), however, parts shortages and development costs led to a far less impressive aircraft. Nonetheless, it does hold a decent cargo load, and does it's job. The SC-32 has since become a linchpin in Accilian logistics.
