Gun recoil

Anyone know how to slow down the speed of the barrel recoil of the large cannon? I want the part of the barrel to move slow when moving back to place, im building a large gun and as far as ive seen in irl videos the barrel pops back quickly but slides back forward slowly. Anyone know how to get this effect?

hmmm... ok... Connect (cannon + shock) to fuselage >>> Nudge so that cannon is halfway outside fuselage(and shock is inside) >>> connect hydraulics and rotators to fuselage. So imagine the fuselage as part of the main cannon

@DarDragon thats a good idea but wont work with the setup i have, im going with a gustav railway gun kind of setup so the two giant guns are mounted on a solid frame and uses hydraulics to lift up

Connect cannon to shock >>> set recoil force to a lot and barrel recoil to 0 >>> set spring strength and damper to a lot(damper more than spring strength)

@ArcturusAerospace that doesnt slow the barrels movement, the recoil visual is at a set speed that doesnt change, the barrel recoil determains how far back the barrel moves

@Roswell this isnt a block built cannon, this is the in game cannon, the base game one, so i cant use shocks and i cant take the cannon apart

@squideater56 try using shocks instead I recommend taking apart cannons to see how it works.

I only do overload, and I think you can put a piston on that. I’ll see if I can get that to work... not sure @squideater56

@ACEPILOT109 welp its a thing to look into, as far as overload goes its not possible. Also do you know how to link a piston to the gun fire button? 'FireGuns' 'Fireguns' 'Fire Guns' doesnt seem to work.
