Hello SimplePlanes community.
So I'm making this mainly for @ArcturusAerospace as they wanted me too, but there isn't anything stopping anyone from using this tutorial if they don't know this technique.
So let's get started.
First, you need the 'DesignerSuite' mod. You can download it HERE
(Edit: You can use the DesignerSuite integrated into the game, but I prefer this way. This other way though is mainly for Mobile users.)
Of course, you need to activate it, it looks like this in the SP mod menu (in-game):
Next, have an image you want as your thumbnail, it should be a picture of the thing you are uploading. We will use this as an example:
Next, save the image in your computer's main picture folder with a name that can be easily spotted, this is important.
Then you want to open up the SimplePlanes Designer. A black bar should be at the top of the screen, like this:
Then, you click on the left box to open up the blueprint and view menu:
Next, you choose one of the views, preferably the side or front/back view. you then click 'Open Image'. You then need to scroll down the list till you find the name of the thumbnail image:

@FeatherWing
How did you get that custom background in the editor? I don't mean the one from the pic.
@Diloph
TLDR is Too Long, Didn't Read
@ND40X I tried to use be funky but I never understood how to use it
@ND40X is TLDR an app?
TLDR, you can edit the image how you want with what you want.
@Diloph
Photoshop?
No, I used an application called photoshop express for things like the vignette, but I used a website called Befunky for the text.
@Diloph
Do I need PS for the pic editing?
@AgentofFortune
That's because it's a blueprint viewer, not to make custom thumbnails...
@AgentofFortune
Well, it didn't work for me as it crashed my game, I'm not sure about others though
@Gameboi14
well, this is a feature that was built into the game with 1.9 update, I just don't use it.
you're forgetting that most of us can't have mods anymore. Can you you show us an un-modded method?
