Dynamic Texture Painting - a solution?

12.0k dINE  4.2 years ago

Hey there,

Everytime i see a model using extra meshes as decals/paint job it gives me the chills (yes even mine).

Time to time i think that SP could use a paint function like this:

So i wonder if it is possible to one day this to see the light of day? What you guys think?

Cheers

@ForeverPie if simpleplanes keep updating for the better that it does, we might see this in the future for the low parts number sake.

The problem with it immediately is the game simply can't handle it as you need to color every inch or centimeters of your plane in singular, the game gonna lag and android or perhaps even potato pc can't handle it

@CoolPeach i was thinking in adding one single texture file to serve all meshes in a SP project. Every face of every part would have acess to that same texture file but this is just a theory.

People have recommended this for ages, but just think about how they would go about implementing something like this our builds? That’s only one body, but builds here have hundreds if not thousands of bodies that would each need to be included when painting like that. I just don’t see how it’s easily possible.

Maybe, but I like that the current system is easy to use.
