Anyway

Hello There

I'm Blackhatt

I live in the land of beachs and never ending heat
No, not Florida, that would be Awsomur
I live in California

SO, GETTING TO THE POINT

I went to the Great Pacific Airshow at Huntington Beach

I saw the Thunderbirds perform among other performers, but I was really there to see the Red Arrows. The last time they were in the States was when I was 4.

The Thunderbirds were fantastic as always, and when they were wrapping up I saw the the Thunderbirds go into formation and keep circling, and by that time the Red Arrows were also about to preform.

And they kept on getting closer to each other...

And closer...

And closer...

And they did one pass right in front of all of us, all in formation!!!

That was one of the most amazing things I'd ever seen, 15 planes all flying feet apart from each other!

I've never seen the Red Arrows until that point, but man that was one of the best performances I've ever seen.

@AWESOMENESS360 they would scramble all eight fighters and fly in two four ship flights.

@Brields95 I would say that that violates a lot of FAA laws, but then again it's not like just because they've been converted into airshow ready aircraft, doesn't by any means mean that they shouldn't be messed with. In fact, if absolutely necessary, the military can actually send up a squadron of the Thunderbird variant of the F-16, the only difference between an Airforce F-16 and a Thunderbird is the paint-job; The Thunderbirds can be equipped with functional missiles, and can even have their guns loaded up too. Now that I say that actually, it kinda brings up another question: how confused would an enemy be if they were intercepted by bright flashy-colored Thunderbirds all flying in airshow formation, like I wouldn't know how to react in that situation!

@AWESOMENESS360 i was setting up for an airshow at March ARB when they came in. They do a mach attack buy buzzing all the important stuff... tower, fuel tanks, stuff like that simulating an attack, and then go into their practice sessions for like, 2 hours.

Oh wow, I didn’t know they were allowed to do that, kinda reminds me of how my mother’s friend who is a Military Pilot, was actually allowed to fly from the airbase to the airport, with a re-fueler aircraft escort obviously. He actually landed at the airport, you know, the airport where usually passenger jets and small civilian aircraft land and take off at? Imagine being the ATC Director in that situation, and just seeing an F-18 with a refueler aircraft just casually landing at the airport like it’s just a normal day, lol.

The Red Arrows fly from place to place in formation. They take off and land in three "vics" and fly in the diamond nine.

@AWESOMENESS360 that's how the tbirds travel only instead they actually "invade" the airport.

@BlackhattAircraft I'd like to think that instead of just the pilots themselves traveling around the US, and having their aircraft brought to them, they just travel around in their aircraft and land at the next stop at the assigned airport, so all you see as an ATC Director is an entire fleet of brightly colored planes all landing and circling around the airport waiting to land, and they're just unintentionally giving an air show to all the staff members on the ground, lol.

@BlackhattAircraft nah, I was at the Atlantic City Airshow down at NJ. They were performing there too, so they must've been traveling from place to place to entertain at different scheduled airshows!
