lets talk about one of the most obscure planes of WW2

This plane is the 1st AFAMF XP-1, an experimental Chinese fighter. As you can see it is quite unique, It has gull wings, a P-47/43 inspired engine cowling, a canopy similar to a P-40, and a tail based on the CW-21's. Only 2 of these were ever build, the first crashed and the fate of the other is unknown. The above photo and a few papers are all that we have to prove this thing actually existed. The XP-1 was powered by a Wright R-1820F-3 engine making 710hp, But production versions would have had Pratt & Whitney R-1690-25 making 850hp or Pratt & Whitney R-1690-S1C3G's Making 1,050hp. Although being designed in 1942 the 2 were not completed until 1944, because the Japanese had been constantly harassing every Chinese factory, including the 1st AFAMF. Had it reached production it likely would have had similar armaments as the early P-40's, 2x .50 caliber machine guns in the nose and 4x .30 caliber machine guns in the wings, however the 4x .30's could be swapped for 2 more .50's in the wings. its unlikely this plane would have had bombs, as it was designed to fight the A6M Zero fighters and regain air superiority.

I want to build one, as It has mostly been forgotten.

@Atomicdragon Thank you, this is great! I am Chinese and I really like the white sun logo on the fuselage!

    Do it.
Considering I’ve never heard of this aircraft before, I’m both surprised and ecstatic to learn that there was a design I never have even heard of that existed.
