So we've made a few changes here on the website. There were a number of problems, and this is our first attempt to fix some of them.

• UPVOTES ONLY

  We moved away from the star ratings. It was clear that they were not working as intended. Players typically just gave 5-star ratings when they liked a plane. Well over 90% of all ratings in the system were 5-stars. Anything less than a 5-star rating often led to hard feelings and resentment. So now we've moved to an upvote only system. If you like a plane, upvote it. If you don't like it, just ignore it.

• POINT CONVERSION

  All of your points have been converted over to the new system. All of your 3, 4, and 5-star ratings have been translated to an upvote in the new system. If your new point total was less than your total before the update, we gave you a bonus to make up the difference.

• SCORE LOG

  Tracks where your points are coming from and now you can see how they have changed over the past day, week, and month. You can find this by going to your Points page.

• GRAVATARS

  Now you can show your mug around here on the website. Just make an account at gravatar.com and setup your gravatar. We'll use that here if you enable it on your Manage Account page.

• SMARTER NOTIFICATIONS

  Notifications can be overwhelming if you get a lot of feedback on a plane. Now, notifications are smarter and if you get 10 comments on a single plane, you'll only get one notification instead of 10.

• UNDER THE HOOD

  The majority of the effort went into architectural changes in the website's data model. Now, it will be easier to maintain the website and to add new features, such as FORUMS.
  I'm going to continue working on the website next week. The next big item on the list is to add forums. After that, I'm going to improve moderator tools and bring some new mods on board.
