With the old engines I can easily break the sound barrier

  • Shark Tooth 9.2 years ago

@AndrewGarrison I don't think drag is the problem. It seems to get stuck in itself. When starting midair the prop doesn't even free spin even a little. When modding the pro I had to make it 100x more powerful. The prop managed to overcome what was holding it still, but as a result it blew up. It could be compared to putting a wing between the blades on your prop; if the propeller is too weak it will just get stuck, but if it's powerful enough it will just break the wing and explode the engine. I have more evidence that this isn't desired behaviour too. Auto prop pitch works just fine, and most important of all: manual prop pitch works at >30%, but not fixed pitch.

  • Shark Tooth 9.2 years ago

@AndrewGarrison Have you looked at the issue I pointed out:
"@AndrewGarrison The smallest prop engine has more problems it seems. When maxing out diameter and thickness the propeller will not spin if set to a fixed pitch greater than 30%. (Horsepower, blade type and blade count does not matter) When fixed pitch is set to 80% the maximum diameter is 135 inches and the maximum blade thickness is 1.5."?

@SpiritusRaptor @AndrewGarrison What is weirder though, is that when I paused right when the game started and then unpaused again the plane did not explode in the secondary position.

Andrew, will I have to edit my submission to a plane that does not explode in the secondary position for this tournament?

  • Shark Tooth 9.2 years ago

@SpiritusRaptor I have cropping into my prop, yes. The weird thing is that it works when it is not controlled by the enemy AI.

  • Shark Tooth 9.2 years ago

@AndrewGarrison My plane seems to always crash in midair when starting as enemy, but when starting as player or in sandbox it is fine

  • Shark Tooth 9.2 years ago

@AndrewGarrison The negative fuel exploit should not be allowed. If you mod a fuel tank to have extremely high fuel and another one to have negative that amount the result will be almost endless fuel without any significant weight increase.
