@phrongus yes but joystick bases do not produce torque on the car itself so they are a better choice than rotators. You cannot control joystick bases without a variable.
Honestly I don't really care if the planes don't transfer over, since I suspect we would get a ton of new tools to make building things much easier and probably of higher quality, making old builds look outdated.
@OrderlyHippo if they have new tools like fuselage slicing and angle, I don't think it will take much time at all for people to recreate their creations.
But yeah, backwards compatibility would be ideal.
