Have you tried experimenting with the wing types? As in, the option for "semi-symmetric", "flat bottom", or "symmetric" in the Edit Wing menu? Just in case you don't know how they work (if you do, ignore this), they affect how much lift the wing generates in level flight. Symmetric is none, flat bottom is the most. If your plane is nosing down, try changing some wing sections ahead of the CoM to create more lift in level flight, or some of the sections behind it to create less. Note that stabilisers are usually symmetric when you drop them in.
@Nethereal what difficulties did you have with it? I found it to be unsteady, but everything happened so slowly that it was pretty easily countered. Everything I tried doing to fix it reduced the gliding distance, so I kept it as it was
@DeezDucks it's sorta achievable by mounting a set of wings or stabilisers on rotators with VTOL control. It's clumsy, but it works; I use it to keep one of my high-altitude experiments flying level when the air gets a bit thin
I can answer number two for you, because I used it to create this. I'm afraid I've got no experience with the other two. Regarding your last little note: don't be so hard on yourself! You're not far off of gold, you must be doing something right
I like the idea of this, but I wouldn't want to include the ability to freely create things like massively overpowered engines or near-infinite fuel tanks. They have their place, and I mean nothing against anyone using things like that, but personally I think that they take the challenge out of building a plane. Being able to edit the positions of pieces would be fantastic, though.
Hey there! I downloaded this because it's kinda similar to one of my own planes and I wanted to see how it flew, but it has stability troubles - generally you want to make sure you keep the centre of lift behind the centre of mass.
@realluochen9999 alright so sadly the contest didn't take off, but this is a stellar effort totally deserving of the prize anyway, so I'm gonna go through and upvote your stuff
The Su-47 with the forward-swept wings will always have a place in my heart for looking like something a comic book villain would tool around in.I have a soft spot for modern Sukhois in general just because they look so good. Other than that, I'd have loved to see the X-36 turn in to a full-fledged fighter
@TaylorWatson12 a higher limit might be a sensible idea. Honestly though I don't think it would be a problem to have multiple successors - I think it would be interesting to see how different branches off of the same starting point evolve
@RBEEDUDE1 yeah, people were particularly upset about the call that put Australia ahead at the last moment too - the ref actually ran from the pitch at the end.
@YoYoJ16 my Eagleray fits the bill pretty well other than the fuel and colour requirements - should I upload an edited version with less fuel, or shall I just leave it? I suppose it has a tiny bit of yellow...
Played rugby in school but sadly had to give it up after injuries started getting in the way of exams - a broken collarbone makes writing a little tricky. Used to go mountain biking while I still lived outside of the city as well, I miss that a lot. I play a bit of Gaelic football now instead, although I'm not very good at it.
I used to be fascinated with skateboarding as a little kid - largely thanks to Tony Hawks and his pro skater games. How did you end up getting in to it?
I had a shot at building an ekranoplan a while back, but couldn't find any evidence of ground effect in the game, so it would've just been a really terrible regular plane. Good collection of interesting aircraft, though!
@BigCat that's a pretty nice plane you've made there - although the engine is so powerful that I had to keep it at 1% thrust to see the auto-levelling hahaha. Was definitely fun getting it past Mach 4 though
@BattleBulge hey no bother mate, glad I could be of help. It saddens me that there seems to be so much frustration in the community just now, so I do my best to help. I'll check out some of your planes tomorrow!
@qazproductions definitely, that's one of my favourite changes so far

@Homersdonut alright! I've got to get some sleep just now, but we have plenty of time for the contest
@YoYoJ16 sweet! I'll be looking forward to the results
@Layne thanks!
@YoYoJ16 awesome, thanks for helping with that!
@mario3154 you could be the one! I think someone already made it amphibious, though
@YoYoJ16 here you go
So apparently this project has basically taken over "new" page, there's six of them visible at once just now hahahaha
Also the original looks so stubby and clumsy compared to this
Quite a striking difference it made, too
@BigCat I think I'm gonna see how long this goes for a then make a short video of the evolution of it
A thing of beauty! Glad to see someone making more sweeping changes
Better get building planes then!
Okay I can't help but find it funny that 5 and 6 basically undid almost everything 3 and 4 changed
To whoever makes the successor, this is actually number 7.
As to the actual plane, I love the lower stabiliser, good shout!
Rules with formatting fixed, just for whoever is copying them next:
1 - you may make up to three edits to the plane, then post it as a successor (preferably to the most recent version)
2 - an edit can be:
2.4 - editing a part (multiple edits on one part - such as changing a wing's shape and fuel load - count as just one edit)
3 - mirroring to keep the plane symmetrical does not count as an edit
4 - you may repaint as many parts as you like, but you may only add or change one colour
5 - the description for your upload will include these rules, as well as the changes you have made.
I'm really happy this seems to be taking off! I have a feeling that the plane will be unrecognisable before too long
I'm up for this, if anyone fancies working with me then tag me in a comment

Sweet! Rounding off the wingtips was a nice touch as well. It has a sort of classy executive look to it with your changes

A link to the original forum post, since links in the description don't work: here
Alright folks it's up!. Who's doing the first edit? @TaylorWatson12 @XVIIndustries @dsr1aviation @tominator @lucky13 @Verdnan @KingDeadshot
@BigCat much appreciated
@BigCat huh, beats me then. It's still flying properly and staying in one piece, though?
@BigCat yeah I had that issue too, it goes away if you use medium physics (or better, presumably). I have no idea why it does that.
@realluochen9999 alright so sadly the contest didn't take off, but this is a stellar effort totally deserving of the prize anyway, so I'm gonna go through and upvote your stuff
@realluochen9999 that is a great design! You did a pretty solid job of recreating it too, nice work
@TaylorWatson12 cheers mate
It looks kinda like a Naboo starfighter going backwards, and it works really well. Can we see the original pictures?

@dsr1aviation haha yeah, I guess it is kinda like that! Maybe it should be called the Whisper
@BigCat thanks!
@ElGatoVolador don't be daft mate, BigCat definitely likes yours (I'll need to go try it), and s/he is the one you need to impress. Thank you, though!

@RBEEDUDE1 as a Scot, please make the Aussies pay for what happened today. No disrespect, Aussies, but... AAAAAAAAUGH
u wot m8

Awesome, thanks! I should do a completely XML'd version of my X-wing some time
@TaylorWatson12 I shall get building tomorrow! It seems to have taken off rather well already

@Spikerya specialities? Oh dear, I'm not quite sure I have any haha

Looks good, I shall get to work tomorrow
@TaylorWatson12 sweet, I'll be looking forward to it. Sadly I'm working tonight, I don't have time to make use of my early viewing of the brief hahaha
