Is it happening to all of your planes or just a few specific ones? Normally this only happens if the engine is getting either no fuel or no air. Note that detachers don't allow fuel or air transfer, so if your fuel/intakes are on the body and the engine is on a detacher, it won't work. Same goes for the other way around.
Naturally it varies with each plane, but it always has to look good and be as maneuverable as possible. Usually I get a certain concept - something as broad as "no roll controls" or "looks like a swan" - and that sorta dictates where the build goes
A downward dihedral (or anhedral) will make a plane unstable in the roll axis, but I don't think that's your problem here, because it shouldn't make it roll the same way every time. I have a couple of planes that do this too, despite being 100% symmetrical, and even with a pretty strong dihedral. Does your plane use the wing landing gears? I think it's an issue with that which causes the roll effect when the landing gear is up; the effect goes away when the gear is down.
@lucasmah sweet! Yeah I've been playing Civ V for the last wee while, so no planes uploaded. Still checking in here every now and then, though - and just on time to catch this, it seems
@General360 I seriously don't understand where you get the idea that people think you're a bad builder. I don't think I've ever seen any of the mods say that.
@TheLatentImage nah I was there, it was ridiculous. I'm totally on Rocket's side regarding that, I just feel that a mod ought to be the bigger man/woman
Markdown formatting has broken your link, it should be this. It interprets underscores or asterisks around a word to mean "italicise this". It's a Grumman G21, right?
@Carol8 just a little extra thing: if you're having trouble identifying which part is which in the XML file, paint your whole plane one colour, and then paint the part you want to edit a different colour. Every part has "materials="x,y,z"" section, sometimes with entries. This is what defines the colours the part has, with x being the primary colour, y being trim 1 etc. Your first colour will be listed as material 0, your second one as material 1 and so on. If you paint the whole plane the first colour, and then paint the part you want to edit the second colour, you can look (or, more likely, ctrl+F) for the only part that says "materials="1,1""
It's pretty understandable - it's not actually very easy to upvote something. The plane has to catch your eye from amongst the other new uploads somehow, be interesting enough to justify a download, and then be good when the user flies it. Even after all that, the person that downloaded it has to go find it again in order to upvote it, because there's no record of what you downloaded and you can't do it from within the app. I personally think in-app voting would encourage a lot more voting to take place.
In the meantime, don't stress about upvotes - they're only internet points
I'm on inconsistently, but it always seems busiest around late evening for me (around 2200-0100 GMT). This corresponds roughly with the afternoon and workplaces/schools finishing up in the US and Canada, so it makes sense to me on a basic level
@AeroEngineering for some reason, SimplePlanes.com treats links a little strangely; if you don't include the "http://www." at the start then it just tags your link on to the end of the current page's URL
I say wait and see what it is and how much. If they're going to add something really big to the game, I think it's fair to charge a small amount. After all, we considered the current price to be fair for the game we have, is it wrong that a much bigger game would be worth more? You'll always have the option to not buy it, of course.
Now, that said, I would be disappointed if it was a poor deal. At the end of the day, the decision belongs to Jundroo, though, and I'd say they haven't let us down yet.
@General360 ehh, each to their own, in my book. I'm not a fan of editing planes purely to max out their performance, but it's no real harm to me if people do it, I can just not fly their planes. I'm totally okay with using XML editing to position things in ways that are otherwise impossible, I'd say that was a valid use for it
@lucasmah the game is made by Andrew Garrison, Philip Tarpley, and Kevin Murphy (possibly others too - sorry to anyone I forgot). Their profiles have blue "dev" tags next to the names. Authros is just a user who happens to make ridiculously amazing planes.
Mods don't make the game, they help manage the community on the website. They can ban people, but will generally try to avoid doing that, of course.
@General360 commenting again to add: I'm sorry if you get bullied in real life, because that sucks. I'm genuinely not trying to upset you, I just disagree with what you posted
@General360 dude nobody is saying you're a bad builder at all, just that the attention-seeking is no good. As far as I can tell from your page, you built some pretty great stuff, and some of it got a fair bit of (well-deserved) praise. Just try to remember that an awful lot of folk are in the same situation as you, and advertising like that is effectively just trying to shout over everyone
Normally when people mention modding on this site, they're actually referring to XML editing. You might know what that is already, but if not, it's editing values in the save file of the plane in a program like WordPad, usually to do things that can't be done in the builder.
If you are talking about actual mods, like changing or adding content to the game, you're probably best to look here
@General360 what, you mean how would I get them to clip inside the body? I rarely ever use mods, only if what I'm trying to do is literally impossible in the regular builder.
@General360 am I not allowed to have a different opinion on the situation from you? Your Do-216 is a great build, but it doesn't really teach anyone anything - the turrets are just on rotators, and you didn't explain anything about how you made it. Puredeath's post a) wasn't even attached to a build, it was a totally about the tutorial, and b) explained in detail something that the majority of users didn't know how to do. As UnstableOrbit says, if everyone advertised the way you want to be able to, the forums would be totally flooded and effectively just turn in to the new planes page. If you want to help people, that's fantastic, but I'm afraid that this just looks like you wanting more attention for your planes.
@General360 are you referring to Puredeath's wheel tutorial? Because that is a world away from "Come and look at my plane". Puredeath's post was helpful to people, simply advertising your newest build isn't
Not sure of how accurate this is, but this is as far back as the "new" page goes (at the time of posting). Sure enough, it does have the old ones that show up in in-game assets like the banner for sandbox mode
Looking at the plane, it has a little bit of a dihedral on both the wing and tail surfaces which could maybe be exaggerated slightly, until you get enough stability.
@StanceNation I'm glad you seem to be handling the trolling well, I hope it doesn't put you off of SP
Looks like an account just set up by the devs to automatically notify people of the new rating system when it got brought in

@goboygo1 uhh... you alright mate?

@DeezDucks aww man I got all excited and then it just made mine roll the other way hahaha. Still, glad you got it sorted!
I'd like to see it added to the fuselage blocks. Maybe add a "buoyancy type" option to the buoyancy slider, with "water" and "air" settings

For clarity: modifications or moderators?
@NovaTopaz thanks for putting that better than I was able to
@General360 I seriously don't understand where you get the idea that people think you're a bad builder. I don't think I've ever seen any of the mods say that.
Post a comment in here so we can see it! But, having clicked on your profile... nice. So many chips and so much vodka just waiting to happen :D

No worries dude, enjoy whatever you end up playing next!
@RocketLL c'mon man don't pick fights, you mods have a duty to behave particularly well haha
@Carol8 just a little extra thing: if you're having trouble identifying which part is which in the XML file, paint your whole plane one colour, and then paint the part you want to edit a different colour. I hope that made sense...
I'd love to see this, so long as they provide only a very small amount of buoyancy.

Hey, someone who actually had a reason to make their name the title of the post!
Personally I like Planeez better, but it's your name. Stick with whatever you like best!

Confirmed to be a joke by Mr Tarpley

You can sorta do this by putting a wing on a rotator, but it is a bit clumsy. Itwould definitely be nice to have this option.
I've got a Saab 21 that you're welcome to use if you want

@General360 I guess you're thinking of just modding to have loads of thrust/unlimited fuel and so on?
@SkullFace I'm afraid I don't. How come?
@lucasmah it flies really nicely, great work! I'll have a crack at building one myself tomorrow
@lucasmah sweet! I have to go to work just now, but I'll check it out when I'm back
How about a Hawker P.1052?
@TheLatentImage I'm secretly just scoring upvotes for FIRESHOTER
Also, clickable link for RocketLL's comment

@lucasmah Not a problem, just tag me and I'll try to answer if I'm online

Hey dude, how's the duo challenge thing coming on?
@Samwise oh you're the guy that fixed the details on my X-wing! Wow, I'm impressed you remember me hahaha
