@Krathar nah man it was only a minor thing, don't stress over it. I'm not sure why it needed to be symmetric rather than flat bottomed, though, that was weird
@Krathar it's alright, we got it fixed without having to add weight. Changing the stabilisers' inversion in the XML so that they produce downforce instead of lift countered it by about the right amount
The low speed flight combined with giant control surfaces make it seem more like an aquatic creature than some sort of a plane. It's almost a bit surreal. By the way, changing the rearmost wing sections to symmetric fixes the pitching up
@NovaTopaz it's alright, I'm quite happy to build something more AI-suitable. Ace Combat has a lot of options to choose from, and it would be a shame to skip over one of the biggest new features just because I built something inconvenient
I've managed to reduce the problem by giving the horizontal stabilisers at the flat bottom profiles, but not totally eliminate it. The only other ideas I can think of are:
mount a set of wings on rotators so they can be used for trim
XML edit the engines to tilt upwards/downwards slightly, whatever works
@XVIindustries there's no targeting reticle if you don't fit any weapons to your plane. You'll be able to keep playing just like you did before if you like, the weapons are 100% optional
@Byplain @Nickasaurus @XVIindustries @RABpilot2016 I'm glad you all like it, I'll get it posted up once my game is working properly again, hopefully with the release on Thursday.
@NewAir nah, everything there can be done in the current version, it's effectively just a bunch of wings moved about in the XML
@AeroEngineering I was thinking along the lines of duplicating parts without having to access the menu, but you're absolutely right, subassemblies are a copy/paste of sorts
This happened to one of my planes. I fixed it by taking the cockpit off, rotating it to compensate for the orientation issue, rotating the rest of the plane to match that, and then reattaching it. Uploading it to the site and then downloading a separate copy might help as well, I found that it reset the orientation of my bugged plane when I downloaded it on to a different machine.
Thanks for the shoutout dude. I should mention that that plane actually doesn't have anything from the beta in it, but I do have another one ready to be published that takes full advantage of the new features. You're all gonna love the update
It can be very helpful for giving you a bit more space to work. If you want to keep the cockpit to scale, you can make a false one with fuselage sections
@Elite8855 nah weapons were just listed as features of v1.3, not PC exclusives. The only difference is that the mobile update will come out a little later than the Steam release.
As someone who came from the mobile version in to the beta, I never really cared about the races before, but I liked the unusual challenges like taking off from the USS Tiny. However, the challenges in the beta are much more interesting if you ask me - the race courses are laid out better, and the challenges are more varied. At the end of the day, though, the game for me is about building planes. What I do with the plane after that is kinda secondary.
@General360 that engine exposed on the front actually will generate thrust as well, you can cover the exhausts entirely and it still works. I think the engines just have the ability to take in far more air than they actually use. The Griffon was an awesome build, by the way
@ArgentumFen I haven't actually worked out why that's happening to all of my uploads, it doesn't include anything from the beta at all. You should still be able to download it, though. What happens if you hit the download button?
@RABpilot2016 well then you'll be glad to know that I didn't actually change any of the colours and that's just what it looks like on high graphics haha. The drawing is pretty cool, it looks like a futuristic version of the Mi-28
@RABpilot2016 alright so I'm on the beta version and it's setting everything I upload to be unlisted just now, but I fixed the stability issues and it flies great now!
Try something for NovaTopaz' Ace Combat challenge, maybe? I'm thinking of doing the Cariburn or Forneus
I don't think so, but you can definitely just upload it again
At last, it's free! @AgDynamics @dsr1aviation @Byplain @Nickasaurus @XVIindustries @RABpilot2016 @NewAir @Earthbenderrwefa
@qazproductions the AI always uses full throttle and controls, but can't use any unusual control arrangements or VTOL
download the mod
place that mod in Users/You/AppData/LocalLow/Jundroo/SimplePlanes/Mods
start the game
open the new "mods" menu option
enable the mod

@krathar nice going man, you deserve every bit of recognition you get
@NovaTopaz it's alright, I'm quite happy to build something more AI-suitable. Ace Combat has a lot of options to choose from, and it would be a shame to skip over one of the biggest new features just because I built something inconvenient
Ooh my Su-47 would be perfect for this. I'll get it uploaded tomorrow once v1.3 is released
@ronyseptian17 huh, I didn't realise that still worked. Not to worry though, it's working now anyway
@Cedy117 no bother dude, tag me in the finished thing so I can see it!
I reckon put it on your latest plane as a demo, with a link to a tutorial if that's not too much work. I'm intrigued to see what you've done here
@ronyseptian17 in the circumstances there wasn't anywhere suitable to hide a VTOL engine. Normally that'd be a good shout, though
@Cedy117 I PM'd you the new version on reddit. Ignore the warning about requiring the beta, it hasn't got any beta parts.
@Cedy117 Yeah, /u/PurpleSkua
@Cedy117 if you do an unlisted upload and link me I can try to sort it by rotating the engines a little?
I can't upload today thanks to my game still playing up, but if tomorrow's full release fixes it, I'll upload this

@rocketplane123331 well it's your plane, it's for you to publish if you want to

@StickandRudder34 sweet, so long as it worked!
@Byplain @Nickasaurus @XVIindustries @RABpilot2016 I'm glad you all like it, I'll get it posted up once my game is working properly again, hopefully with the release on Thursday.

You can use W, A, S, D, Q, and E to rotate parts in the editor. I'm not sure about copying and pasting, though, I've never thought to try it

@Allstar did the devs mention that somewhere? I was just going by what was stated to be PC-only in the beta testing megathread
@Elite8855 nah weapons were just listed as features of v1.3, not PC exclusives. The only difference is that the mobile update will come out a little later than the Steam release.
@Stingray your Destiny would be worth entering in this

They look sorta like a Raptor/Flanker hybrid

@dsr1aviation the engine that has an exposed intake seems to get enough air for both of them
@General360 that engine exposed on the front actually will generate thrust as well, you can cover the exhausts entirely and it still works. I think the engines just have the ability to take in far more air than they actually use. The Griffon was an awesome build, by the way

@spefyjerbf you could make a rudimentary one by favouriting one plane from each of the people you follow
@Cedy117 it's back now
@Krathar are those words "wait two days"? Haha
@Cedy117 never mind it's actually just saying that it's scheduled maintenance now, we probably just missed the announcement
Yeah, reddit is always a bit dodgy when it gets high traffic. It'll be fine soon
Yiss another Inkscape fan. I think @BritishNarwhal was looking for a logo recently
Here you go. It's run by wordpress, so you can create an account at that link and upload a photo to use. Quite a few smaller sites use gravatar.
@RABpilot2016 heh, looks like you ought to apply for a job at Mil
@RABpilot2016 huh, so it does. Was that deliberate or just a coincidence?
Okay I know that a lot of people know what's in the update now but I don't think we're in open discussion territory
@RABpilot2016 well then you'll be glad to know that I didn't actually change any of the colours and that's just what it looks like on high graphics haha. The drawing is pretty cool, it looks like a futuristic version of the Mi-28
