  • No mods folder Why? 9.5 years ago

Virtually every plane on this site is free of any mods that require installing. Which mod are you trying to use?

  • #5 Avro Vulcan 9.5 years ago

@FredDeane just discovered that it actually yaws almost perfectly. WHAT SORCERY IS THIS?

  • #8 De Havilland DH.88 Comet 9.5 years ago

de Havilland planes always look so good. I was surprised by how well this worked with a skid at the back, rather than a wheel

  • #5 Avro Vulcan 9.5 years ago

I like the satisfying weight that the movements of this have, it actually feels like a great big bomber. I'm gonna load it up and take it on some of the ground attack missions. The only criticism I've got is that is really doesn't like to roll and pitch at the same time, although I'm not sure why it does that

  • Can you mod this? 9.5 years ago

@Hazo yeah, I'd say go for it. I don't think anyone is likely to worry too much about the power of the engine unless it's going way too fast or slow haha

  • Can you mod this? 9.5 years ago

@Hazo ahh well, these things happen. What was it you were building?

  • Having a spot of bother... 9.5 years ago

@FredDeane no worries. You've also reminded me to actually check out the ones you've done so far, if they're all to this standard it should be a lot of fun

  • BUG: Plane dimensions incorrect after upload 9.5 years ago

One in-game unit is half a metre

  • Having a spot of bother... 9.5 years ago

    @FredDeane sorted

  • Having a spot of bother... 9.5 years ago

Can you upload an unlisted version for us to look at?

  • Stunt contest 9.5 years ago

@FullFruntall got a link for us?

  • Modding??? 9.5 years ago

@michaelrw1 you only need xml editing for that, which is enormously easier and doesn't require downloading anything. Go to C:\Users[you]\AppData\LocalLow\Jundroo\SimplePlanes\AircraftDesigns, Note that AppData is a hidden folder, you may need to enable hidden items in the View tab at the top of File Explorer. To make your engines more powerful, find the file for the plane you want to edit, ctrl+f for "engine", and replace the value for "max" with a higher one. Props are slightly more complicated, but take a look and you should be able to figure it out

  • Nudge Controls? 9.5 years ago

@NovaTopaz @JolanXBL nah you actually can nudge stuff to be completely floating free of everything with no issues, it will still maintain the connection it had when you placed it. Mirroring the part won't work properly, but the original definitely will

  • Sukhoi Su-47 Berkut with missile bays 9.5 years ago

@RocketLL yeah, it was my first time doing an XML-heavy build and I think I must have inverted some stuff that I shouldn't have. I never managed to totally fix the issue. At least the bays went well, those were the point of it hahaha

  • Does te update live up to the hype? 9.5 years ago

@Brields95 hell yes. No more sub-fifty-part planes on all low settings for me!

  • Does te update live up to the hype? 9.5 years ago

For me, weapons are cool but not that big a deal. AI, one the other hand, makes it awesome

  • My Notebook. 9.5 years ago

That is an astoundingly well-organised notebook. I never see half my sketches again because I forget which scrap of paper they were on

  • Nudge Controls? 9.5 years ago

@Brields95 I can basically no longer deal with building on mobile because I miss nudging too much

  • AI Planes on STEAM version 9.5 years ago

Ah, yeah, again for anyone reading this: if you can't find the AppData folder, it's probably because of that. Brields and I had a hell of a time trying to understand why his/hers was missing. In File Explorer, go to the View tab at the top, and check the box for "hidden items". These files and folders are usually ones that you don't want to change, so don't touch anything you don't understand.

  • Maybe a Daredevil record, but not for the fastest win 9.5 years ago

@DeezDucks I'm hoping to work out some way of using ships in the AI battles by the time you and General360 finish your projects

  • Nudge Controls? 9.5 years ago

@KINGxACE99 yeah. It's the number pad by default, just make sure numlock is turned on

  • AI Planes on STEAM version 9.5 years ago

For anyone who doesn't know, you can get the AI planes by going to your AircraftDesigns folder, finding the files with underscores at the start, copying them, and renaming the copy to anything that doesn't start with an underscore.

  • Nudge Controls? 9.5 years ago

They're only in the PC version, I'm afraid. Basically they move parts by a very small amount, while totally ignoring clipping and connection restrictions

  • Maybe a Daredevil record, but not for the fastest win 9.5 years ago

@DeezDucks still building it, I'm afraid. It's an interesting one, though. I promise it will be faster by the time I post it haha

  • question 9.5 years ago

@simpleplanesmaster look here. Once you've done that, make sure you enable gravatar on your SimplePlanes account. It'll take a little while to show up

  • Should I leave? 9.5 years ago

There's no sense in forcing yourself to play something you don't enjoy. It's a game, it literally only exists for people to have fun with, after all. Take a break for a while and come back to it when you feel like you have some fresh ideas or want to check some new planes out. You can even stick about the community while you're not actively playing if you feel like you want to

  • This game has the best community ever 9.5 years ago

@MediocrePlanes best thing to do is just post a link to the devs' post about that in their comments. In most cases they won't have seen that post and don't know about the tags. Repeat offenders can be reported, but naïve beginners are better off being guided a little

  • My attempt at the racing challenge(s) 9.5 years ago

    Clickable link

You can make these with the following format:

It's tough to tell from just the video, but changing the profile of your rear stabilisers to semi-symmetric will probably help with that pitching-up problem. I didn't see you check the CoM/CoL at any point, but I might have just missed that or something. It seems that you got it more or less right anyway, but it's worth learning how to make use of them for when you build more planes. Also, don't be afraid of fuselage sections! They'll make it much easier once you get to know them.

As for the video itself, I liked the way that you showed the construction stage, it meant we could still see what was going on but didn't bore everyone by taking up the whole video. Pretty good piloting too, once you got airborne.

  • Can you mod this? 9.5 years ago

@Hazo no worries dude, it's nice to help people build interesting things

  • Rotator Wings Help 9.5 years ago

Oh, two other unrelated things: firstly, don't be afraid of fuselage sections, they're extremely useful and really easy once you're used to them Secondly, welcome to SimplePlanes!

  • Rotator Wings Help 9.5 years ago

I've not done all that much with rotators, but I can give you a few general pointers. You're on PC, so you can use the nudge controls to mostly hide rotators inside other parts, which helps neaten things up quite a lot. You can use them in regular planes quite often, for things like weapon bays or the exhausts and all-moving elevators on lemoose's Raptor. The best thing to do, though, is find designs that you think are interesting and pull them apart to see how they were done. Some people are far better with them than me.

  • Can you mod this? 9.5 years ago

  • Ideas?? 9.5 years ago

I've not played Just Cause, but the Pell Silverbolt looks the most interesting to me

  • 2,300 bhp T1000 propeller 9.5 years ago

    @FredDeane here it is

  • Can you mod this? 9.5 years ago

    @Hazo here it is

  • 2,300 bhp T1000 propeller 9.5 years ago

Modded props reset to regular power if you edit anything about them, so you'll need to let us know the size, number and style of props etc

  • Can you mod this? 9.5 years ago

I can do that, but editing any aspect of it in the editor (blade sizes and types, inputs, whatever) will reset it to 250hp. Do you know all the details of what it should be like?

  • Gravitars 9.5 years ago

    Nope

  • Leapfrog 9.5 years ago

Quick shout out to @HakkeAirTech for his/her version too

  • BAe Hawk - Red Arrows colours 9.5 years ago

@ramblingman13 maybe that's why it looks so much like a dolphin haha

  • Parts rotated in the xml are snapping back to 90 degree increments after saving in the editor or flying 9.5 years ago

@Brields95 ohh I okay, that's a hidden folder, there's an option to make those visible. It doesn't matter now though. Happy modding!

  • Help! 9.5 years ago

    Here it is

  • Parts rotated in the xml are snapping back to 90 degree increments after saving in the editor or flying 9.5 years ago

@Brields95 sweet, well done! Where was it? Just in case someone else has this problem

  • Help! 9.5 years ago

I think the main issue is just that's it's so short that exerting pitch control is almost impossible

Edit: never mind, I've got it, I'll upload after undoing the unnecessary changes

  • Help! 9.5 years ago

@dsr1aviation @HakkeAirTech I'm pretty stuck on this one too, I've got it flying better, but not well yet

  • Parts rotated in the xml are snapping back to 90 degree increments after saving in the editor or flying 9.5 years ago

@Brields95 quite possibly, although a quick search seems to suggest it should be the same. Could you post a screenshot of your C:\Users folder, maybe?

  • Parts rotated in the xml are snapping back to 90 degree increments after saving in the editor or flying 9.5 years ago

@Brields95 that's... rather bizarre. If you want to come on a google Hangout and screenshare I can try to help?

  • Parts rotated in the xml are snapping back to 90 degree increments after saving in the editor or flying 9.5 years ago

@Brields95 oh okay, that's just because it's your account name on the computer, go to C:\Users and your login name should be an option as a folder. If I logged in as Skua, it would be C:\Users\Skua\AppData\LocalLow\Jundroo\SimplePlanes\AircraftDesigns

  • Parts rotated in the xml are snapping back to 90 degree increments after saving in the editor or flying 9.5 years ago

@Brields95 if you go along this path one folder at a time, how far can you get before you don't see the right folder?

    C:\Users[you]\AppData\LocalLow\Jundroo\SimplePlanes\AircraftDesigns

  • Parts rotated in the xml are snapping back to 90 degree increments after saving in the editor or flying 9.5 years ago

@Brields95 I mean are you trying to install a .spmod file? If you do mean xml editing it's exactly the same as normal, even the file locations
