That is the name they picked, however that is because of its role. Also, I know enough German to know what it's name means. The weapon was used by assault teams, however, when most people think assault weapon, they think FN FAL or AR-10/15. Both of which are normal, more or less rifles...when it comes to the round they fire. Or, they think AK-47/74. Both of which use pretty good sized rounds, however the AK-74s round is more similar to that used in a AR-15/M-16/Mini-14. @HarperAstrionics
