Alright! And for the actual competition, will the car be driving against another in a multiplayer server, or will it be time trial based? @KingHandspider
As of right now we’ll focus on the smaller aspects of the car, I had a few questions about the front wing actually.
I’m experimenting with some designs right now. One of my ideas was to have an endplate with a small structural wing angled away from the side of the endplate. (It’s a bit hard to explain, I have images but idk how to enter them.) it’s goal is to basically vector air around the car instead of it hitting the edge of the tire. Is this allowed?
Yeah! I was really focusing on studying for a PPL (which I’m still way too young to get) but now I’m focusing on aerodynamics and front wing design in F1. My Indy500 car was based off of your AndyCar. It’s really a shame how we can use only four downforce plates, I’m used to making wings with up to 30 of them. That’s alright though, we have a design ready and we’re working on the blueprints for the car. The trickiest thing would be making up for lost downforce (40% of it actually) because the floor of the car will have to be a symmetrical wing, and the tiny upwards angle wouldn’t be enough to suck the car to the ground like in reality. @KingHandspider
In section 1.2.1, it states: “The aerodynamic surfaces must be scaled 0.5 on all axes” scaled meaning the wing parts are 0.5 the size of the normal SP wing parts? (Sorry, I’m a mobile user so I can’t XML, plus my computer’s broken as of right now.) also: in section 1.2.1 as well, it says: “The inclination of each wing deck must be split evenly between the minimum and maximum amounts, i.e. (from bottom to top):
0.5°, 3°, 6°, 9°“ are these the minimums or maximums for the wing decks, or are these exactly the angle the wing decks should be? Thanks. @KingHandspider
What does Scale and MaxScale mean? (Quoted from 1.2.1) “The aerodynamic surfaces must be scaled 0.5 on all axes, and must have a massScale value of 0.5.”
Alright, I’ve filled out the application. I’ll experiment with some front wing designs with the new rules. Should I also start on blueprints for the body itself? @marcox43
Alright, I’ll check that off. I currently work on Mobile (my computer’s broken) so you’ll have to change some things with the XML aspect requirements, (not sure if you read the rule book). We’ll have to decide on roles, I wanted to work on the downforce surfaces and suspension, so maybe you could work on the body and drivetrain. I could work on some drawn-out plans for the car. @marcox43
Could you tag me when you have this formula series running? I’d love to join! (I’ve built a few F1 and IndyCars in SimplePlanes and a competition sounds really fun).
Alrighty! Thanks! @KingHandspider
How long does the approval process take for a new team?
Alrighty! Thanks! @KingHandspider
Alright! And for the actual competition, will the car be driving against another in a multiplayer server, or will it be time trial based? @KingHandspider
Will the cockpit be able to be covered by a canopy, or an open cockpit like the AndyCar? @KingHandspider
Alright! Thanks mate! @KingHandspider
Alright, sounds good. Any word on when the regs will be finished?@KingHandspider
Alright. That would make sense.

Alright! That makes it easier. (I love the AndyCar btw, it inspired me to start learning about vehicle aerodynamics) @KingHandspider

@marcox43 , I sent something through Discord for ya
Alrighty! Thanks! @KingHandspider
Amazing
Alrighty. Any word on what the max length, width, and height is for the car?
Thanks! @KingHandspider
Ah. Alright! I’ve applied for my team, any word on other teams applying? @KingHandspider
What does Scale and MaxScale mean? (Quoted from 1.2.1) “The aerodynamic surfaces must be scaled 0.5 on all axes, and must have a massScale value of 0.5.”
Oh it is? Didn’t know that! @marcox43
Alright, sounds good! I can’t wait until it’s finished. @marcox43
Alright, I’ve filled out the application. I’ll experiment with some front wing designs with the new rules. Should I also start on blueprints for the body itself? @marcox43
Alright, that sounds good. I’ll fill out the team application. @marcox43
Who’s going to be team manager? Im okay if not, we’d just need a driver. @marcox43
Ooh, good idea. The suspension sags, so tilting the tires would allow for more grip. @marcox43

I like Aroura Racing. We could go with that. @marcox43
Sorry, I meant four.
Section 1.2.1, 9th bulliten down.
Alrighty. What should the team name be? Perhaps something like Lotus Racing Team, or something else. Idk. @marcox43
@KingHandspider , in the rules it says no more than 6 downforce surfaces for the front wing, is that for each side or for the wing total?
Hey @marcox43 ! I’ve made the thread (as you can see).
I’ll make a to-do list of things we need to complete for this team.
Alright! I’ll make a thread where we can communicate about the car. @marcox43
Hey @marcox43 , wanna work together?
Alrighty. Will this be a tournament-style thing? I assume the PDF will be posted on that thread. @KingHandspider
Also: where will the rules be posted? Thanks. @KingHandspider
Thanks so much man! I’m super excited. How will teams work? Will there be one person making a car or multiple people on a team? @KingHandspider
Cool beans! I’m looking forward to this! @KingHandspider
What about Formula Silver stylized as FS?
Are we talking about Formula 1 style vehicles? @marcox43
As in rally cars? @marcox43
Could you tag me when you have this formula series running? I’d love to join! (I’ve built a few F1 and IndyCars in SimplePlanes and a competition sounds really fun).
Names:
Formula S
Formula G
Formula 12
Idk :p
IDK HOW TO TYPE IM SORRY 😂@Fluffiboo
😂 thanks for pointing that out! I’ll change that real quick... @BACconcordepilot
May I ask what the actual f* this is
Simple as H E C K
Yep. I know. A wee mistake. @GermanWarMachine
So sorry to ask again, I did it wrong. Perhaps 160 degrees will work. Can you help? Thanks.
@Minecraftpoweer
THanks so much! I’ll tag you in my build. @Minecraftpoweer
As you might not know I’m on IOS so I cannot XML mod.
Check before assuming ;)
@GermanWarMachine
Yes please :)
@Minecraftpoweer
I’ve tagges you in it, not sure if you received. @MrAspy
Your memes are old, but have a tint of spice. Nice job.
