What I am doing on straight pipe exhaust on my current build, is slap a resized reaction nozzle on the end, set for pitch. Of course that requires a VTOL engine, but just resize it put it into the "engine" and set the power to .001.

sweet, let's see what else ya got. The best way to play, is to get other people's builds and learn how they did it. Tear it apart and study the overdrive on certain parts. look how they used fine tuner to cover and hide things. Then try to do it yourself to make your builds better.
