@Stellarlabs i know. i know. but i didnt understand why you couldnt find more pics from the sky crawlers on google. i have started a challenge for planes from the movie or the game but have only two entry at the moment and one fo them violatet a rule that i am not in the mood to change (dont use miniguns).
@stig27 this sint a plane. its a spaceship from cowboy beebop. the fighter is called swordfish 2 and when you look closely you can see the giant gun underneath,

@Datom on rostocks side are the tanker plane called whale. then there is the heavy fighter someaka that gets some short scenes at the end of the movie, then is there the reconnisance craft called senryu and last but not least is the light fighter sanka m-b that is the plane with the most screen time. on lauterns side are the skyly j-2 as a lifhtweight fighter, the hevy fighter is the rainbow that is around the same size of the me bf110 and then there is the bomber fortune that you unfortunately never can see from above or the side but i think its a combination of the last try of the third reich to get a long range bomber with a ju88 or a bigger version of a focke wulf condor.
@Datom @kyuSha i rezently get the information that the film only spans half of the story of the light novel. i guess thats the reason for the not so good end but when you like planes that are realy good worked out and a good story with a even better subplot. its the film for you.
@Datom you can make more than one plane for the challenge (even more than one submission for one plane) bombers are allowed. it has to be a plane from the sky crawlers. and it should follow the rules thats all.
@Datom it ends february next year. but there arent much planes yet. i have changed the rules since the start a bit but two things will never get in the rules: miniguns and guided missiles. i even had kicked the first entry because the builder had build in a minigun. oh and sorry for my sometimes bad english: i am german and a bit dislexic.
oh and two facts to rostocks giant flying wing bomber: the fuselage looks like a me 163 commet flipped on its back. the wing is probably based of a northrop construction from the 1940s and the big vertical stabilizer on the underside has svivel so when the plane land the stabilizer folds up. its a bit hard to see but when you see it its one of the details that show that almost every plane from this movie will work. oh and fun fact: the bombing run scene gives us the oportunity to get the mesurement for the bombers: the rostock sanka is based on a j7w shinden and the lautern rainbow fighter has the same size of a me bf 110. with this two planes you can make some estimates.
@Datom there are four planes with pusher props. one is the seiei wich is only in the game and looks like a do335 pfeil combined with the fuselage of the p51 mustang but i think you dint ment that. in the movie are 2 rostock planes that are driven by backmountet pusher props that arent bombers: sanka m-b from rostock the plane that the hero flys and the slightly bigger someaka wich is fresh from testing and shows up at the end of the movie. i build one someaka.

@Oski i overhaul a nice looking do335 but the most people didnt even know that this plane had a motorized cannon in the propeller axle. a cannon for explosive ammunitions.

you use the cleaver missile arent you? the reality is that cleavers arent rockets at all. rocket engines dont have a need for atmospheric oxigen but the cleaver has air intakes and they put the ckeaver staright in the cruise missile family. but nice plane after all.
@Awsomur i hva started a challenge for plane sform the sky crawlers. one of my buddys, kyusha couldnt download planes properly. he asked me if his plane could get the entry yes and i said yes. hes hasnt uploaded it yet but its one of the finest planes in his size. its aminiature of the skyly j2 but it has the logo from the teacher, it has some sort of a working exhaust and turbocharger. i tweeked even the rules to acomodate his plane so that you can use the vtol engine under the condition that the plane isnt powered by it when you ise it for details. i know that man. but i still hope that my challenge get more planes. im not seing much the sky crawlers planes on the site that are on the level of yamaotobattleships or kyushas level of perfection. i know that you have to make such decisions.

it has his own little gymmic and presumably the faster missile.
@Jadenf28 i made all parts of the test as scitific as possible (diferent colors, start at the same time etc).
i tested it. yes the cruise missile has double the speed (i did a three stage test with my someaka as testplane and every time the modded one wins).

@Oski i think the cannon that i planted in and your 103 has the same size. and the bigger damage would be the best argument in an dogfight.

@daygus11 ooops. its the plane that i flew the most in air combat simulator 3.
i will test it. i have a plane that can handle the weight but its small enought to get a good maneuver rating.

its basicaly a p 39 lightning with a tail gunner.
i had the no rockets rule for my own challenge but i changed it to no guided missiles. they were around in ww2.
make it into a desert paint sceme and it will be a nice for awesomurs dessert challenge. realy.
i cant spotlight it yet. but i will try it so that this plane get some loves more.
