@FarrowAirlines You do know, quite honestly, there is an edit button. But if you prefer not to use it, I suppose that is your prerogative! :D @freddykrueger Please Pizzaz!
@AccipitrisEnterprises @JakeTheDogg Well, from the course map I have the top-down; but I don't have elevation data, so If I can find exactly the location on GoofleMaple or similar, then I can start building the big parts and whittling from there...
@Jasperjl Yeah, that can cause conflicting sometimes, but it shouldn't be noticeable for two texture aspects on the same texture.
The two boxes are as follows:
The left box = the picture you want to tile (E.g. Cliff, plants, sand, snow, etc.)
The right box = the "normal". You can think of it as a map for how the picture in the left box reflects the light. It is used to keep the polycount low, while making an attractive environment that is technically a smooth poly face appear to have depth and texture in relation to the lighting environment.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Normal_mapping
Try checking out "texture normal" on the GoogleImage and you will see just what I mean. Alternatively you can type in normal in the "project" search tab in Unity.
@Visify That's likely the problem. I could only get just the base to render in 5.1.4; I would grab 5.3.6f1; it has conclusively fixed the problems for many a Mod Maker on this site. It will have a lot of flags and error messages for redirects or obsolete addresses, but they usually redirect just fine.
I actually have both installed on the PC at the moment; but have finally gotten Android stuff onto 5.3.6f1, so I will be uninstalling. Goodbye heartache!
@JakeTheDogg I've never read the initialD manga; but apparently is based off of the Jomo-Sanzan Panorama Highway, somewhere around Takasaki, Gunma Prefecture, Japan.
@Jasperjl Try selecting the window tab, and choose lighting. With the color examiner you have selected the hangar. Choose the terrain with the inspector and open up the texture editor for the texture you have applied. Does it happen if you use another texture as the base texture? Do you have multiple textures?
@Jasperjl Nice tip! I haven't used that repository yet! (Super Tip: you can also export anything you can make in SketchUp or Blender/Maya to build your own!)
@Jasperjl Yeah, if you uncheck that one little box, builds for me now take less time than opening my Mod Foundry folder... (So I have a copy of the SPzipped version).
It makes it way easier to troubleshoot without having to wait hours between builds!
Do you see it under the saved selected assets? The terrain has to be a child of the simple planes map tab. (It would be one of the tabs on the left, e.g. directional light)
Did you apply a texture? Also, make sure you have it marked as active with the checkbox in the inspector.
@Joco80 Just the map, you know kinda like a rough shape, mountains here, harbor here, rolling hills here etc... It could also be like a treasure map... Anyway, just the basic top-down shape of the island and the various biomes. I can add vegetation, but that can cause lag.
It also looks like you have the light flare through the roof.
If you also look at how very dark your editor is vs your build, and you can see the dark squares turning to light as they haven't loaded the surface texture.
What are your lighting settings, and how many light sources do you have?
P.S. Do you have the [Auto] box unchecked under the Lighting tab? This will save you immense amounts of processing time! Have fun building!
@Visify @Jasperjl +1 on this; also some texture values are intrinsically reflective; e.g. ices, some snows, some sand. What are you using for a "normal" (the reflectance values)? You can try to adjust the scaling of the texture/normal to see if the result is something you desire. There are free sand texture assets in the asset store.
@PassivePanda Whelp, today I am swapping some suspension arms and perhaps rebuilding a transmission; so it may be a couple; but I have been whittling away at it. I'll upload the next solid build soon...
@ComplicatedPlanes I'm actually looking for folks to make barely flyable versions of aircraft, and awkward aircraft for my Janky Planes Mod. Your username would certainly suit you to the situation if you are interested!
Don't be angry! FWIW; in this little realm of the internets, one will reap what they sow, so just be grateful for @Delphinus and @ Tully2001 to give you props for your first build.
All of us have built unflyable craft that progressed into works of art and Love! We are all here to help, just focus on your building for you, not us. Upvotes will come! (Albeit slow at first!)
@ComplicatedPlanes No worries, I was really just being a 'lil nerdly and goofy!
It's funny though, I just advocated in another post for giving upvotes to folks with less than 50 or so pts based on effort for their point level; and not just upvoting the epic builds with my federation credits. Enjoy Building! :D
@ComplicatedPlanes If one wished to split hairs, one could conjecture that "Upvote if you appreciate" is redundant; for doesn't one upvote through appreciation?
Also, (splitting hairs still), one could also conjecture that this was in fact not an asking, or even a question.
Technically, I suppose, it would be a command (with "you" implied.) E.g. (You) Upvote if you appreciate.
Viewed an entirely different way, it could read; Upvote if you appreciate (in your own way.) ((Not just because we are SP friends)). Though, admittedly I didn't think of that implication until further analyzing this grammatical anomaly at thine insistence.
Thus, in conclusion, this is neither, a) a question, or b) for anyone to do anything that they would not do naturally and genuinely!
Does this mean we can make motorcycles that use countersteer? Could you also make this mod with a wheel, and have the gyroscopic speed increase with ground speed? Just some food for thought, nice build!
@GermanAircrafts I don't see why not have a topic in the Forum. It might even need its own tag!
@GermanAircrafts I saw it, I flew it, I upvoted once I could wounded the bandit approach, and I would advise larger ailerons! xD
@GermanAircrafts
on and on and on and on
...Perhaps ...Nothing IS at the end of infinity...
Is the natural logarithmic function where they meet?
@GermanAircrafts ...Time keeps on slipping... slipping... slipping... into the future...
@GermanAircrafts Indeed! xD
@GermanAircrafts Are you OK?!!??! It seems like you might have had a Moment...
@FarrowAirlines You do know, quite honestly, there is an edit button. But if you prefer not to use it, I suppose that is your prerogative! :D @freddykrueger Please Pizzaz!
Awesome, I will begin downloading right away. I don't expect to be able to build it until this evening, though. @Joco80
@Jasperjl No worries! I'm still learning, but it's nice to help folks with hurdles! Did you get the textures to work with the normal maps (normals)?
@Ctracerx2 Hola, friend! These fine fellows are interested in a Mod of Akina, I wonder if you could lend us your thoughts? Thankee in advance!

Yup, at 149 parts it should work just fine; and it looks nice to boot!

I don't see anything right off... You said it wouldn't render when you build the map?
@Jasperjl Nice tip! I haven't used that repository yet! (Super Tip: you can also export anything you can make in SketchUp or Blender/Maya to build your own!)

@JakeTheDogg Fun idea! I'm trying to find the exact stretch of road in real life. I think I am close, but cannot find it...
Jomo-Sanzan Panorama Highway, somewhere around Takasaki, Gunma Prefecture, Japan
Any help with precise location (GPS coordinates), would be wonderous!
@EliteIndustries1 Maybe you need to disambiguate the program that opens the file. Does it need to be decompressed as well? Good luck, keep us posted!
@EliteIndustries1 Awwww..... I was hoping for a sweet potato sketch... What do you need help with, downloading Unity? I'm not sure, I'm on PC.
@EliteIndustries1
Is that a request? Submit a request with a quick sketch or similar! :D
Oh, and this isn't for maps, per se, but for custom terrains for folks to start their modding.
@Visify
Do you see it under the saved selected assets? The terrain has to be a child of the simple planes map tab. (It would be one of the tabs on the left, e.g. directional light)

@Visify No problem! I was a noob not very long ago, and in many ways I still am!
@Tully2001 @BirdOfSteel @TrainDude Best Prices! Money Back Guarantee!!
@Joco80 Just the map, you know kinda like a rough shape, mountains here, harbor here, rolling hills here etc... It could also be like a treasure map... Anyway, just the basic top-down shape of the island and the various biomes. I can add vegetation, but that can cause lag.
@Joco80 Heya, I responded in a new Forum post to keep stuff sorted.

@Joco80 Heya, I've set up shop over here to keep stuff sorted out.
Sure, just shoot me a basic sketch of what you are thinking of. (Like a paint .jpg on imgur)
:D Remember since this is a Terrain Foundry, it will be up to you to place the objects and such! :D
@Joco80 Sure, what kind of environment are you looking for?
@Visify @Jasperjl ...

Sure, that's what this thing is all about! @Joco80
@PassivePanda Also, I can put the source file online, so you can feel free to chip in! :D
Nice Simple Ship!
Thanks! I've been quite busy myself, hopefully the freighter convoy shall be soon!
@PassivePanda Whelp, today I am swapping some suspension arms and perhaps rebuilding a transmission; so it may be a couple; but I have been whittling away at it. I'll upload the next solid build soon...
@ComplicatedPlanes No problem, have fun building!
@ComplicatedPlanes Sneaky, sneaky! :D

Thank you for the grammatical exercise!
Does this mean we can make motorcycles that use countersteer? Could you also make this mod with a wheel, and have the gyroscopic speed increase with ground speed? Just some food for thought, nice build!
@theflyinghillbilly Activate! (Lemme figure it out, it may take a couple por supuesto!...)
@CommanderBly +1 Truth bonus!
@FarrowAirlines You should be able to edit .xml via the wonderous Overload mod! This is a test to make some a few unique ideas come to fruition.
@FarrowAirlines Everything up to them. So for missiles, no big deal. It will not download the missile but it will download the base pylon (bare).
@joeysellers Awesome, thanks!
