Here's the problem: objects expand, hitboxes and attach points don't.
When you mirror the parts,it updates the attach points,but not the connections. Hence the scale mirroring problem.
So to solve the problem, you have to update the blocks, so the connections will update.
Its a one piece print (to save money) so just print out a jet instead of a prop ;)
