The Trident is a three-engine short and medium-range passenger jet designed and produced by the British company de Havilland. Originally designated D.H.121 by De Havilland, the aircraft was equipped with an instrument landing system, flight control and navigation equipment, power supply and air conditioning, anti-icing systems, and sophisticated communications equipment. The aircraft was designed in 1957, entered production in 1959, first flew in January 1962, and entered service in the spring of 1964. Production ended in 1975, and 117 Trident variants were built.
