History

The Kawasaki Ki-100 came to fruition when the new Ha-140 engine for the New Ki-61-II model was either being too unreliable and too hard to maintain, or because of the American Bombing the Factories that produced the engine.

The decision to put a Radial Engine, the Ha-112-II (which had similar Horpsepower) which they had alot in stock in, to the Existing Ki-61 airframes that still had no engines was then put into motion to make as many of them as flyable asap.

This proved to be successful as it made the new model, The Type 5 fighter (Ki-100) 700kg lighter than the Ki-61 that preceded it, aswell as having an engine that was very easy to maintain, In exchange it gained more drag due to its radial engine leading to lower top speed.

Outro

And heres the Ki-100 that i love so much in War Thunder! It took some time to do the cowling part, but in the end i think it turned out very nicely. The change in engine did make it slower, and still having similar part counts to the Ki-61-III i just converted it from lol.
